I want to make these to fit my dad.  Do you think going up a needle size would suffice?  He wears a size 9.5 to 10 (US sizes).

I was planning on making him some kilt hose, but I might do these instead since he seems to like my cable work projects.  And to find a yarn sub...  Hmmm....

The length for the largest size seems okay, but the width is what I'd be concerned with , but that's easy enough to adjust with an extra repeat or two which you can jut turn into extra purls between the cabling. Smiley

I'm familiar with the company - I think someone has actually posted and called them long socks, not that the company refers to them as 'long drop' socks.

A long drop is the king of loo you get out in the country and it's just a deep deep hole in the ground (with or without a toilet on top to sit on).

Actually, the title of the thread is exactly what they called the pattern. Tongue

Can't say I've every encountered a toilet like that.

ah, memories of primary school camps.
I clicked the link wondering why on earth they were named something to do with toilets.

Toilets aside. I started on Sunday, and I've finished almost two repeats of the M2 cable pattern. I didn't quite get gauge, so I cast on for the largest size and I'll just have to adjust it when I reach the foot (I have size 37/38 feet). It is a lot of fun to knit, and it knits up rather quickly too. I think I'm becoming addicted to cables.

That's gorgeous!! I was hoping my yarn would have come in yesterday, but no such luck.. hopefully today!!

Any forewarnings on the pattern that we should know about?

I  haven't noticed anything thus far, but I'll keep you posted.

I have altered the pattern ever so slightly by adding a central cable at the back, but that's just to hide the ladder problem I always  seem to get when I'm purling on dpns. I never get ladders when I'm only doing knit stitches, so I don't quite know how to make them go away.
