I started to knit the Sunflower Tam from Knitting Nature (love that book so much) with some grey wool (Patons), but realized that I was swiftly running out of the grey wool. So, I decided to put in a purple stripe... but by the time I started the stripe, as you'll be able to tell, my imagination was off and running and I just let my whims take me away... so to speak.

I knit it in about two days of three hours each (I could've been faster, I was watching tv.. lol), finishing last night at 3 am, and I am so excited about how it turned out that I can't wait to post it. So Pia, I hope you're not looking.

From the side, right after I finished and blocked:

From the top, laying flat:

And, I was pleased to find out that it looks just as cool if not cooler worn inside out.:

I am normally too impatient to be bothered by any form of intarsia or colorwork (heh heh), but for some reason I really enjoyed this hat. Even to the point, dare I say, that I might knit it again... I feel the compulsive color-pairing  when I look at my stash...  Roll Eyes

**Edit 10/30/07**

I made another one! This time with black Simply Soft and Turquoise Microspun. I'm not as happy with this one- the colors are striking and all is well on that front, but the fit is more loose... I think I'm going to find a family member with a big head to dump it off on... haha. Though I have to say that the more I wore it to take pics, the more I kinda liked it... oh who knows. Whatever. great job! I think it looks really cool inside out as well. BTW, I have that exact same shower curtain.

That's lovely! How did you work the color changes? Did you just do the traveling stitches in grey, or is there more to it than that?

I've liked this pattern for a while, but seeing it in different colors just solidifies it for me!
