I designed and made this Hello Kitty blanket for my niece, for Christmas.
Took me four weeks to crochet.

I made a Blues Clue one for my nephew last year but forgot to take a picture of it before I sent it to him. Working on a car blanket for a friend and hope to finish within the week.

Shauna
The finished Car blanket I designed for a friend. Took me 6 weeks to do this one since he wanted a Queen size blanket.

No, I didn't have a pattern to follow, but i did make my own pattern. I designed a chart to follow by finding  a picture on the internet of hello kitty that I like.I then printed it on graph paper.  It is mostly crocheting and correcting as you go. (take a bit of time to design but real fast to crochet.)

That is really cute! And I love Sanrio stuff! Do you have any tips/tricks to share about creating a graphic pattern like that? Sounds like something I'd like to try to do...

you can try out print n stitch program which lets you to turn any graphic into a cross stitch pattern. I think this will also work for crotchet (I never crocheted but also I never cross stitched! I am planning to use this program for knitting). Program is free:

You should give it a try. ;-)

oh my god - that is the coolest thing i have ever seen!! i <3 hello kitty!!

another tip for the graphing is to use knitters graph paper - the squares are rectangles to keep the image from skewing tall and skinny. I'm not sure if the proportions are the same for crochet, but a google should let you know if crochet graph paper is out there..
