i love the beatles and i thought it would be fun to dress up like lucy in the sky with diamonds.

i was thinking simple blue dress with stars and diamonds on it and make tissue paper "flowers of yellow and green" and pin them on, and a "newspaper taxi" to wear like a hat and somehow make sunglasses to look like "kaleidoscope eyes"

any ideas on how to make the "kaleidoscope eyes", other accessories, or how to make the costume more recognizable?
just discovered the joy of alpaca...this could get expensive

for the kaleidescope eyes you could always get a pair of lennon style glasses,
they have stain glass cheap-o kits that you can buy at any craft store.
they come with a black, puff style paint that u outline the shaped u want with
then colored paint thats translucent and fills in between the black lines

the glove compartment, is inaccurately named, and everybody knows it. so im proposing, a swift orderly change...

I think a "Hi My Name is: Lucy" tag on your shirt would be litteral and funny ^_^

hmm you already have the newspaper taxi as a hat but what about adding something fluffy for clouds so you have "...with your head in the clouds"

The name tag idea is great!

Oh, I went as Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds my senior year of high school!

Here's what I did: sky blue pants and long sleeve tee to start with.  Then I cut out clouds of white felt and sewed them all over.  Then I got little star-shaped rhinestone things and attached them to little pins and pinned them all over everything.  And I made a couple into earrings too.  Then I got the most hideous fake "ice" I could find - horrible plastic "diamond" rings and stuff.  And a tiara.  And then I got a curly red wig ala Lucille Ball for the "Lucy" part of the costume.  And some crazy rainbow fake eyelashes for the girl with kaleidoscope eyes.  I think that was everything I had.

I'm guessing most people at my school didn't get it, but I didn't necessarily expect them to.  Especially when you figure that the rest of the girls were of course dressed in the usual sort of costume these days - sexy nurse!  Sexy army girl!  Sexy convict!  Sexy fairy!  Sexy eskimo (I swear I saw that costume this year)!

When I first got to school for the dance, I ran into one of my friends in the hallway - another big Beatles fan - and said "whaddya think, can you guess?" and she immediately said "Lucy in the sky with diamonds!!!!"  So apparently the costume was a success at least with other Beatles fans!

Eventually I will think of something good to put in here.  Or maybe I won't.  Nah, I probably won't.

you should make the flowers out of cellophane not tissue paper...
