These are for dresses I have made from the same pattern for different events for my daughter,

She gets a design in her mind and I sew it up for her,
She always tells me how fun it is to have her own personal seamstress.
Gee i let her live in my body was that not enough?? ha ha . Grin
I really love doing this for her.
It is something we do together and now that she is almost 17 I will take any time she has. Wink
Enjoy if you have questions please ask.

Pattern is new look 6457

As a Mom I think it is sweet you wish you could sew with yours that alone will make her smile.  My daughter wants to go to England next year to study abroad so I better sew her all the dresses she wants.
thank you fr the comment Cheesy

Adorable Dresses! The red  and black one is particularlly stunning!
I wish my mom would sew things for me, but I'm not getting my hopes up! Smiley

Heh... my mom has a whole wealth of sewing knowledge that she never found time to share with me... she always wanted to, but she never did. It is such a horrible pain in the butt to try and teach myself all that stuff. There is something about seeing someone sew that is so much more powerful than any book or tutorial can ever be.

I'm sure I could find a sewing mentor, but I don't know anyone well enough to spend the kind of time it takes to learn that stuff.

You should be proud of not only the dresses, but the fact that you're a cool mom. You should always take the time while it's there, because you never know what life will bring next.

Dear fiberartist219
As I sit here on a Friday night waiting for my beautiful daughter to get home safely from her night out I read your note and I hope I don't sound like a kook but it actually put a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes.
My friend you have no idea how right your are regarding what is waiting around the corner.  I didn't come from the greatest up bringing and I have made a promise to myself to be the kind of Mom I would have loved to have and while I don't want to make this to long and mushy The sewing I do for my DD is a pleasure she is beautiful on the insdie as well as the out and I am truly blessed to have her and the fact that you saw more than sewing in this made my night as I kill time waiting for her to get the dogs a crazy when she puts her key in the door. Shocked Smiley

As far as a sewing mentor you would be surprised who would love to help you try chatting it up a local fabric stores I would love to help if I can.
You Made my night with your insight thank you so much Wink

I love all of those dresses, but the pink is my fave. My mom doesn't sew but I have the next best alternative my dad, who helps me when I need it. Even when he sometimes doesn't understand my ideas, he tries to help.

Those are awesome! My mom isn't much of a sewer either, my grandmother was but she passed away about 2 years before I started realizing how much I wanted and needed to learn to sew. So I'm teaching myself, and learning from the awesome ladies here on Craftster (and gents too I'm sure!).  You did a wonderful job on those, I think the red and black is my favorite.
