This is the teapot cake I made for my daughter's eighth birthday. She had a Tea Party Birthday. It is covered with marshmallow fondant, and that is also what the handle and spout are made with, along with the flowers.

Here is a picture of the birthday girl getting ready to blow out her candles.

Gorgeous! I had a mad hatter's tea party for my 21st, I wish I'd thought of having a cake like this. (although I had a hat theme for my cakes so I can't complain)

Here is the site that I used for a recipe for the marshmallow fondant.

I have never had other fondant. I know, weird. But to me, this was not bad. It was really sweet. I put a layer of the regular frosting on the cake, and then I did roll the fondant as thin as I could to minimize the taste of it. But, I tried one of the roses afterward and thought it was not too bad at all, just really sweet.

That looks great! I hear that stuff is pretty tough to work with.  Very cool idea.  My daughter is only two, but she's really in to playing tea...Maybe I'll get my nerve up to try this for her next birthday.  Thanks for the inspiration!
