Hi Annez,

I've sent you a message, if you haven't been here very long then welcome to Brussels Smiley

if i would live in Brussels, i'd immediately say yes to starting/joining a craft club! but now i don't know. i live a bit far from brussels.

about alternative culture: it does exist here, but it's just not that visible or well-known. personally i think most interesting alternative culture takes place in squats.

for example in Brussels check out:
-Salle RTT
-le 123 squat: Rue Royale 123
-the anarchist library Acrata
-La Compilotque
-Scum Grrrls zine

in Gent:
-queer kafees, Queer Gazet zine and other stuff by www.queerilla.be
-lots of squats and voks (people's kitchen?)
-Assez: anarchist social centre
-anarchist library Infotheek

in Antwerp
-Scheld'Apen: cultural youth house
-feminist caf www.feminisme.be/fcpoppesnor
-De Ploeg / Klooster / Kievitje, ex-squat near central train station, now used to organise cultural and social events and shelter
-Gynaika: organisation for women artists
-Bolwerk: one-person collective that sets up very cool art projects

in Hasselt:
-Zaal Belgi: cultural space
-squat that sometimes has interesting events like DIY day (!): http://rgcollectief.110mb.com/diydag.html organised by the local riot grrrl collectiev of which i'm a member

in Lige:
-new squat La Chauve Souris: http://ovl.indymedia.org/news/2008/10/24053.php
-La Zone

there's lots more, but this can be a start
