"Will knit for tattoos."

I finished the Secret Garden Tam! Well, it’s not exactly tammy, but it looks cute on my cousin Casey, who actually IS Mary Lennox’s age (10? Right? Oh well), but is not the least bit contrary. I made her put on a sweater so we could go outside, and she cheerfully obliged.
The pattern was created by loudxmouse, but I changed a couple things: for one thing, it’s a lot smaller - it fits Casey more like a beret than the original hat in the movie. I chose to give it to her because 1) she walks home from school, and the weather, as you can see from the photo, is getting inclement, and 2) she’s the only cousin of mine who actually let me teach her how to knit, and now she’s on her way to a cozy little garter stitch scarf using cute wooden needles that came with the Klutz knitting kit I gave her. Thus, she understands what went into making the hat.
I also decided to use Cascade 220 on size 5 and 8 needles. Unfortunately, this means that it took me much, much longer to reach the size I wanted than it would have with bulky yarn and bigger needles.

More photos in the Gallerie section of my blog (I tried modeling it... it looks better on Casey)
