First off I'm not only new to crochet but new to the forum; so, hello everyone! *waves*  Grin

So heres my problem...

After looking, for what seemed liked an eternity, to find an eyeglass case pattern I finally did. This lovely pattern found at http://www.artoftangle.com/eyeglass_case.htm looked easy enough but now I'm completely bewildered.

I've got everything done up to Row 49; its there where things go horribly wrong for me. I should mention I'm only use one crochet thread of suitable thickness I think and not two. Now what I think I'm supposed to do here I've done but I'm not sure...
I think on Row 49 I'm supposed to basicly make something like a picot row with dc, ch, skp st and repeat til' the end which is what I did.

Then Row 40 *cringe* I've had to frog this one several times and I have no clue how to follow it properly. I can't tell from the picture what I'm supposed to be doing here.
Row 40 is as follows:

Row 50: 2 dc in first st (at base of ch-3), *sk next 2 sts, sc in next st, sk next 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, repeat from * twice; sk next 2 sts, sc in next st, sk next 2 sts, 3 dc in 3rd ch of ch-4, ch 1 and turn.

For one thing I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be working INTO the chains of the previous row or in the 1 ch gaps from the previous row. When I try to make this row it seems like it doesn't reach the end. Ack.. I just don't know..  It all looks like gibberish to me.

Help? Please?  Embarrassed

Thanks in advance... bless you for taking pity on a newbie hooker.  Wink

ARG! Don't you just hate it when you finally break down and ask for help and then suddenly the answer becomes painfully obvious? I'd like to blame the lateness of the hour but no.. no.. I think we can chalk this one up to stupidy. lol  Roll Eyes
Sorry to be a bother...
On the bright side the eyeglass case is nearly done now! Turned out a wee bit more feminine than I had imagined. *cringe* Well heres hoping my Father likes it all the same. lol

Aw thanks delfina! (pretty name btw!)

I think I'll manage to get it put together completely some time today.. provided I can find a suitable button; otherwise I might have to lookup that popcorn stitch or something. Anywho..

I just hope Dad likes it..   Smiley
