We decided that instead of a boring  photo album as a wedding gift for some friends of ours,  we would assemble a sort of "Wedding Scrapbook Kit." The goal being that even if it was not something they were already into, they would be able to say "Hey, that looks like fun!" and at least have a go at it.

The problem is, I am not generally into scrapbooking myself and am not really sure what to include. (The boyfriend has no idea either, and is pretty much just enjoying looking at stickers.)

So far I have bought:
A small scrapbook (20pgs, 8x8")
Some Wedding Themed Stickers
Silver Sharpies
A glue stick

I have been thinking about things I probably have stashed around the house, like bits of ribbons and neat scraps of fabric, but we just moved and made a point of cutting down the craft-stash (aka clutter) while we were packing.

Since you guys seem to be so fabulous at this, I thought this would be a good place to ask. Any ideas for things to include, (that aren't going to cost me an arm and a leg?)

Thanks so much!

Instead of a glue stick, you should include stickie things that are photosafe (glue sticks are not).

My favorite are the little mounting squares that are like .25 inch squares.  You can get them at most craft stores.

Since this is could be their first scrapbook, I would mostly assume everything should be in a kit that doesn't require much extra work on their part.  The ribbon idea is cute, but newbies would be like, "what do I do with this stuff?"

You might want to start a few pages in the book and let them go on from there.  Or else do all the pages in the book, and just have place holders for 4x6 or 5x7 photos they can add.

Other things to include that might be cute:

Corner rounders and a gift card for photo processing.  After all, they are going to need to process film to add to the book!

From DIYnet.com..  and the DIY network.. there's a scrapbooking show that aires.. and here's something from their show...  you can find all the directions online..   I cut and pasted.. but the photos didn't show up...

Wedding Album Supply Basket
From "Scrapbooking"
episode SCB-263

The supplies in this gift basket ...

... are used to create this elegant wedding page. In addition, the bride can use the supplies to decorate invitations, placecards or favors for the wedding.

Know a bride-to-be who's also an avid cropper? Surprise her with a basket full of scrapbooking supplies -- everything she'll need to capture the memories of her special day! Lynn Damelio shares her ideas.

First, create a basket with supplies in the same colors as the bride is using in her wedding. Some supplies to include:

Scrapbook or album

Decorative photo corners

Rubber stamp collection with floral, wedding or romantic motifs

Sticker embellishments or embossing powder
Damelio used the above supplies to create a wonderful wedding page in shades of lavender:

Select a soft floral stamp that will be an appropriate background accent.

Ink the stamp by patting the ink pad against the rubber stamp (figure A), then apply to page.

Once the entire background is covered with the design (figure B), use a different stamp to add borders. (In this example, Damelio uses a diamond pattern -- but the same shade of ink.) Stamp the border on a separate sheet of paper, then cut and adhere to page.

Next, mat the photos on a similar shade of cardstock and embellish with photo corners.

Stamp a design above and below the matted photos. Cover the ink with embossing powder to create dimension (figure C), as well as an elegant appearance.

Add journaling cards and title.

You might want to check the Sharpie to make sure it's acid free...I thought Sharpies weren't. If it's not acid free, don't give it to them. You can buy silver gel pens that are acid free at a craft store.

What a cute idea! A friend of mine actually has scrapbooking kits for sale. I should just ask her to put a wedding kit together for me. I have about 3 weddings coming up this year! http://www.scrapthat.ca

Rubber stamps! You can have something custom made for them or just include a Heart stamp or their last name initial, or flowers Smiley

A date stamp from the office supply store is a must!

Pages should always be dated, and an office date stamp can be used in a unobtrusive way and can be used for years after!
