This pattern was a dream - this came together in less than two hours including me fiddling with sew-in interfacing that I have never used before. I'm glad I went for it though, because the stiffness just makes this project work!

Sans ribbon:

Lining shot with contrast pocket (my avatar devil hehe):

It stands up on its own, which I LOVE:

I am super happy with this one!

I've been fantasizing about sewing a tote-type bag myself, but also would like one that stands on it's own.  Hmmmm.  I have other fabric in mind, but am also curious about where you got the fabric and/or if you know the "make & model" of the fabric.  I can see a certain someone I know having loteria boxer shorts!

The fabric came from Ebay - I had it bookmarked at reprodepot.com but they obviously sold out before I got back to buy it. Honestly I think there is just this one print of the loteria stuff - there is black, white and a stone coloured background versions, but it all looks to be the same to me. Just search 'loteria fabric' on Ebay and you'll get several hits.

The interfacing was on the pricier side but it was really worth it - I just asked at JoAnn's for the heaviest weight one they had. It's double-sided iron-on but I just sewed it in, and believe it or not it was totally workable. When doing the turn through the last tiny hole in the lining I thought I might wreck it but you just have to screw it up and shove it on through and worry about it after!

I just got a yard of Alexander Henry's Frida Kahlo themed material off Ebay.  I think this kind of bag will be perfect for it!  So cool it stands up on its own too.  I et fed up of my bags dumping out my stuff when I set it down.

So excited that Victoria Magazine is back in circulation!

Your bag is lovely, it's really nice that it stands on it own. I really like that. I'm kinda obsessed with getting bags to be stable now and I've been thinking new materials to use.
