Your soot sprites are perfect!!  I just watched Spritied Away (again) last night - one of my all-time favorites.

ACK!!!  My dd is a Miyazaki-FREAK and those sprites are AWESOME!!  Love that you took a pic with the konpeito.  I used to eat those as a kid and since they don't have them here I asked my mom to send some for dd's 4th b-day.  She kept telling everyone that she was eating "soot-food" Cheesy  Thanks for the inspiration, now I'm off to Joann's for some soot...umm...yarn Wink

those soot sprites are super cute! Spirited away is one of my favorite movies and I just love the key chain idea.

He smells good, he really does! He smells like root beer.

I think soot sprites first appeared in My Neighbor Totoro?

you know, I was thinking the same thing because weren't soot sprites the ones that were in that house the family was moving into (in the totoro movie)?  I remembered 'cause the little girl caught one but when she looked at her hands, there wasn't anything except all that soot!!  I thought she was so cute!  Nonetheless, spirited away and totoro are both great movies from miyazaki!!!

I wish I thought of making those soot sprites myself; they're so cute!!

everything is ace, but the Sootsprites are teh win! I always thought that they were eating those star-shaped sprinkles you can get for cupcakes etc, I didn't realise there was actual candy!

I know they are in that movie, but unfortunately due to a tight budget that particular film is still on my to-buy list (It is at the top though. Followed by the last three films I want to complete my Miyazaki collection.)
It's so cool that I found a place to go where people know what a soot sprite is Smiley.
littlebluegirl ~ The eyes are white buttons, the kind with a loop on the back for yarn rather than holes, the irises are painted on with black acryllic and then coated in clear fingernail polish for protection. I knitted the eyes on but sewed the clip on.

Your projects are so cute!  Love the turtle.  I really like your backpack.  Ha! your pushing 31....well I'm pushing 60 and I'd wear it!  Age is a state of mind.  "Grownups as soooooooo boring"!  My Granddaughter says I'm COOL and that makes me smile. Remember that pathway back to childhood when you need it because there's a lot of peace and happiness there!
