Finally, I have a reason to post here! Smiley I've been lurking around for awhile and soaking in all the wonderful ideas, even though I myself am not engaged (yet.. we've been together 4 years... could be soon??)
Well, I'm getting to the age where all my friends are getting engaged/married. One of my good friends from high school/college proposed to his girlfriend recently, and his aunt insisted on throwing them a fancy dinner. So we're going to the dinner, but of course, he told me not to bring a gift.
I'd still like to bring/make something small for them, even though I know it's not the norm.. I was thinking maybe some sugar cookies with little rings decorated on them? Any thoughts or ideas?  Cheesy

Sorry for the incredibly lengthy backstory.. hehe.

Bring something that can be used at the dinner...the cookies idea sounds great, maybe ask what the meal will include & make a cookie/cake/dessert that will compliment it?? (Be sure to ask the host first though, they may already have the dessert planned)

Also, maybe a book of coupons for your service in different ways for the wedding/reception/clean up/ etc??

Actually...I am praying someone gives me a coupon for a clean up crew!!!! LMBO

It would make it soooo nice....I am going to be exhausted from all the planning, cooking, decorating & stuff & I am doing it all myself, so, I doubt it is going to get cleaned up the same day!!! ROFL

Kpooh, thanks so much for the coupon suggestion! I ended up going in a bit of a different direction with it, but here's how they turned out (can't post pics yet, so I included the links).
My friend's already been griping (jokingly, I hope) about having to discuss wedding details, so I thought these would be funny for them.
I made them last night, cut 'em out and then brought them to work with me today. Just as I'd hoped, we had a slow day, so I raided  my co-worker's drawer full of crafty items for the stickers and streamers to tie the tags on.

Here's the text of the coupons since you can exactly read it on the pictures.

His coupon:
Let's face it Dan. This wedding isn't going to plan itself. So in the rare instance that Suzie decides to include you on important decisions like date, time, place, or type of flowers, you have one chance to get off scot-free. When this coupon is presented, you have the entire day off from anything wedding-related. Enjoy!
Not to be combined with any other offers. Void where prohibited. Expires on wedding day.

Her coupon:
Planning a wedding can be stressful. A girl just needs to be pampered every once in awhile to relieve the tension. So, just present this coupon and your fiance Dan will be at your beck and call, doing anything he can to make your day as stress-free and comfortable as possible. Whether it be breakfast in bed, a bubble bath, a glass of wine, a three-course meal, or all of the above!
Coupon may be re-used at any time. Coupon does not expire.

Hehehe, had to put the disclaimers in there, I write ads for a living.  Smiley
