Before I throw something out:

I have this old x-ray from my cat's vet. It showed nothing, so it's not important to keep, but I thought I'd check for any ideas before I pitch it.

Also, I assume it's safe to toss out x-ray film, but if it isn't, I'd like to know how to dispose of it if it can't be used for something crafty.

Any ideas?

stick it to the window, it might look cool when the sun shines through?

right away what popped into my head was a lighted cube.... that the xray film could easily be cut to fit around... or hell, maybe xray film is strong enough in itself to form this cube and just put a really low wattage bulb in it...and use it as a night light??  of course u could also cut little pieces..finish the edges some if u wanted and make them into suncatchers... kinda morbid maybe but id dig it
peace

wowie.  I love xrays and always want them, but I've never had the option of keeping them.  You can use the xray for a great sturdy stencil.  You could even v easily make a kitty skeleton stencil-- just xacto out the img already there.  I'm jealous!

i think it'd make a cool lampshade, as long as the heat from a lightbult wouldn't be bad for it.

i think it would look cool on the front of a note book or diary. with white card behind it.

i had an xray of my head from when i was about 14, and it was cool because you could see the stud in my tongue.
maybe i should find that and make something.

I love all of the ideas, and may have to try them ALL.

(Well, except the skeleton-stencil, it's a closeup of his torso, not a full body x-ray).

I got a nasty old can-uplight at a yard sale and was going to paint it. I might try wrapping the x-ray around it (cut so it's taller than the can) and lace it up, see how it looks as a lamp.

It's pretty big, 11"x17", so I might have enough to try everything... from suncatchers to journal cover art. Thanks!

Thats so funny i thought i was the only one who liked to save old xrays.  I myself have never had one, but i work at a doctors office and we have to get rid of old medical info in our archives, and i'm pretty sure you're not supposed to throw away or shred Xrays, so i asked if i could keep them, and i just have to load em in and take them home.  Now i have some good ideas.
