my cat has recently discovered the convenience of hunting hummingbirds, every once in a while we get the prize on our doorstep. I always bury the bodies but I'd like some, discrete way of marking where they are. I don't want any crosses, thank you.

My cats used to always kill little birds and mice and things... we used to mark where they were buried with little decorative rocks, so we wouldn't accidentally dig them back up.
