To celebrate the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows release, I went with a bunch of my friends to a giant book party in Wilmington, Ohio!  Everyone dressed up, so naturally I thought I should do some HP knitting.

First: a Mandrake Hat!  Rylie had the pleasure of wearing it, and she looked great!  The hat was made out of Cotton Classic, and I used felt for the leaves.  The red thing on the top is kind of hard to see, but it's a ladybug.  I gave it 7 spots for good luck.   Wink

Here is a picture of me and Rylie, and you can see more of the roots, which I surface crocheted after finishing the hat:

Then I made the proverbial Gryffindor house scarf for my Harry look-a-like friend.  I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

And yes, that is Voldemort.  He was in our group.  ACTION SHOT!

Thanks for looking!   Cheesy

Great mandrake hat. A nice take-off from the usual cute fruit knitted hats.

How cute, what a great idea.  And what a cute baby Smiley

I used to be strictly a yarn girl but now I'm teaching myself to sew.  Help! Smiley

It's so crazy that i was looking through the 'Recent With Pictures' posts when I come to this one. I scrolled past it, not really thinking anything of it until I saw the first picture of Harry and Voldemort. So i scrolled back up and there it is "Wilmington, OH". Thant's the same Deathly Hallows party I went to!!! It's just so weird that someone on Craftster actually knew what Wilmington was (alot of people don't even know it exists) not counting that we were at the same place at the same time!!
I didn't exactly word that how i would like to have, but i'm sure you get it!!!

Cute mandrake hat!!!

so cute!  I love Voldemort and Harry and think that your Harry looks a bit like Jim from the Office too...
BTW your baby is adorable and totally rocks that awesome Mandrake hat.  Good Job!

Thanks everyone!  I really appreciate the nice comments.   Grin

kelseybelle: Harry will be elated to know that he looks like Jim from the Office!   Wink

audio-astrophysics: Isn't it cool how life works like that?  I live about 45 minutes away from Wilmington and drive through there on the way to Columbus!  I love it!  I hope you enjoyed the party, and of course, the book!

Here are two more pictures, one that actually shows the hat, and one with more Rylie cuteness.  Oh, and she's not mine.  I'm kind of like a surrogate aunt.  Basically I'm the girl who knits stuff for her!
