I'd be up for anywhere in Ottawa.  I'd only be able to make it for a big event, but I'd be willing to do advertising and help from a distance.  I'm in Kingston.

Hmmm...I wonder if I'll be able to show my face at a Stitch n Bitch event if I can't knit and can barely crochet a square.  Wink

I live just over the river into Vanier, I'd be willing to host a tiny s&b but don't really have the room for something I would term as an event.

Thanks for the heads up on the yahoo groups, I will take a look.

The Not Your Grandma's Craft Sale, Holiday Edition, is happening Saturday, December 1 at Jack Purcell Community Centre, 10 am to 5 pm. I encourage you to check it out because there are some really amazing artisans hawking marvellous wares. Excellent place to get unique Xmas presents ("From me to me!"). Personally I never leave empty-handed.

I don't think there's a Stitch and Bitch group in Ottawa, but fellow Craftster PrincessJazz and I belong to the Ottawa Knitting Guild. Meetings are held every third Monday (except in December) at Woodroffe United Church. It's basically about 100 people sitting together in a big hall, knitting and listening to short talks about a given topic, such as knitting rescue techniques or one-skein projects. It's 25$ for a September to May membership, but that includes discounts at most of the local yarn stores, including Yarn Forward, Wool 'n' Things, and Wool-Tyme.

And don't forget the Fabric Flea Market is on this Saturday, October 18!

From the Ottawa Start article:

Fabrics from around the corner to around the world will be on display this Saturday at the Cambridge Street Community Public School Flea Market. This marks the thirteenth year students, staff, and community partners have joined forces to fundraise for sports and cultural activities.

This year the Fabric Flea Market will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Glebe Community Centre located at 690 Lyon Street. There is a $2.00 admission charge.

If you like to sew, there will be fabrics, yarns, patterns and notions for sale. All donations are gratefully accepted at Cambridge Street Community Public School, which is located at 250 Cambridge Street North.

It's totally worth going to. You can score lots of vintage and rare fabrics and notions for bargain prices. Bring a backpack. Or a car.
