A asked Steven (nicknamed Giina, though no one really knows why) what he wanted for his birthday, and he said he wanted me to make him a hat.  He told me to make whatever I wanted, so I asked him if he wanted it to be "normal" or be able to bee seen from 300 yards away.

I don't know why more people trust me artistic license.

The cheap acrylic yarn from Wal-Mart didn't like blocking, so it was pretty lumpy when I finished it.  This picture was taken right after I gave it to him, and the lumps have mostly worked their way out with wear.

Big black blocks of letters spelling "Giina"[/center]

I had way too much fun making this hat, to say the least.  It was the first pattern I put together on my own.  It's simple, but it makes me happy.

I can tell you, Fall is composed of

1 part dead fish smell
1 part wet leaves
1 part arctic chilled air (not winter chilled variety)
2 parts crunchy walking
a pinch very cold rain
some apples you picked yourself
a few very still moments
a good deal of inner reflection

Hahaha, I really like that.
"Do you want it to be normal or able to be seen from 300 yards away?" Is something I ask pretty often of people wanting knitted stuff.

If all our life is but a dream, fantastic posing greed
Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea
For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me.

Your friend's expression/reaction in the first picture is the only reason why I'd knit for other people.

And that hat is truely godly. I really love the shape. (I'm actually trying to figure out a colorwork hat (With penguins and earflaps) in that general shape.)

"Oh well we sometimes feel we're to blame in some way for what our gran's become. I mean she used to be happy here until she, she started on the crochet.
Now she can't do without it. Twenty balls of wool a day, sometimes. If she can't get the wool she gets violent. What can we do about it?"
