The Lil Hippies are taking over!

I'm going as Bellatrix Lestrange this year.  I'm quite excited.  I've got my shirt, my wand, and my hair and makeup all planned out.

I've run into a problem or two, though.

I need to get the dark mark on my left forearm, but I can't just draw it on because I'm left handed.  I was considering making armwarmers and just stitching it on, but that's where my dilemma begins.

My outfit is all black and dark green.  The top is a black nylon with a black lace overlay.  It has hook and eye tape going down the front.  It's low cut, sexy, and so Bellatrix.  However, it's impossible to match things with.  Sooo,  what armwarmers, which I can stitch a dark mark onto, would look acceptable with a top like this?

Also, I'm undecided.  Jeans or skirt?  Which is more Bellatrix?

Onward to pictures:

This thing apparently doesn't want my pictures to show up, so I just put links. Sorry, guys.

This is the shirt with a deep purple tiered skirt.  Pardon the silly expression and stance.  I used a self-timer.

This is the shirt with jeans.  The jeans look a little wonky in this picture.  I promise my legs aren't actually shaped that way.

This is an attempted close up of the shirt.  I think it shows how the collar lays.

This is the lace of the shirt with a manilla folder behind is, so you can see what I'm working with.

Any ideas?

Eco-friendly items, patterns, hippies, and more.

I'm on Ravelry, too!

I would go with the skirt, definetely. As for the dark mark, couldn't you just get a friend to draw it on?

The skirt.  Jeans are too Muggle-ish.  Bellatrix would never be caught dead wearing jeans. Roll Eyes

Don't call it trash...I can make something with it!!!

Dunno if I'm too late or not to help but if you want a "tattoo" of the dark mark instead of the armwarmers, I can help. I'm left handed too so drawing it on was out of the question.

Choose the size you want (they are kinda small so I used the big one but you can resize it in paintshop with no prob if you want it bigger). I then went over everything in marker (i used a thin, felt tip pen which seems to work the best) - and I mean EVERYTHING. Every little detail. Then, put it on your arm, picture side down, like you would a temp tattoo. Tape it down if you need to - that's what I did - and then press a wet paper towel to the back to transfer the ink. The more you go over the image with the marker, the more ink their is and the easier the transfer. I also left the wet/damp paper towel against my arm for a couple of minutes. Be careful not to oversaturate the paper when you put the wet papertowel against it or the ink will smear.

Take the paper off (and the tape!) and voila! There should be a dark mark! It will probably be light (mine was) but you can go over the design on your arm in marker again. Hairspray will help the ink not to smear when you're finished. Cheesy

And that's what I did and this is what it looks like:

I'd definately go with the skirt.

Also: If you don't do what ceemonster posted, I had another idea. I remember seeing these things in a magazine; they called them "tattoo sleeves" I think. Anyway, they were just skin colored sleeves (not attached to a shirt) that were covered with pictures of tattoos. That could work...just get some fabric that matches your skin tone, sew up a simple armwarmer thing, then stitch the Dark Mark on it. That way, it'll match anything (you could wear it all the time, hehe) and you don't even have to make two.
