Haylie and her mom have received their package!

Here's what I sent for her mom:

I made her a matching set necklace, bracelet, and earrings out of swarovski crystal and swarovski pearls (her mom's favourite), a furry blue scarf, a decoupaged journal and matching set of coasters.  The box was painted by a friend of mine.

I also sent a small pot of jam from a local place and some coffee (I hope I remembered to put the coffee in!)

And this is what I sent for Haylie:

A purple scarf made from eyelash yarn, a blue and red crystalish bracelet, and a pink bracelet with a flower dangle.

Hopefully Haylie can provide some close-ups!

thanks!

The coasters and journal were last minute pieces. I was going to make a picture frame instead, but then I found this huge box of cork rounds and decided coasters would be nicer.

My Mom received today and I should share that it was the perfect day for her to get her package.  She had a rough day at work and actually started tearing up when she opened the box.  She says thank you very much to supermedic and will, I'm sure, be writing her own note a little later.

I realized as I started writing that I don't have detail shots of things, just general ones, the light wasn't very good and I was too excited.  For now, I'll post general and then tomorrow, I'll add more.

A general overview, including a tantalizing glimpse of the fruit salad Dad made for dinner:

A view of my beautiful Mother, and her wonderful new strawberry apron:

She collects strawberry kitchen items, so this is quite perfect.  It was part of a kitchen set, so I'll post those tomorrow.

A gorgeous chair organizer, which fits perfectly, although she claims that it is far too beautiful to sit on:

I promise to take more pictures tomorrow, if I can get the box away from my mom long enough.  She's considering taking it to work to show it off.  Not included in these pictures (because I am a silly, distractable girl), were a set of coasters, two little sachet bags, one with herbs, a lovely letter, and a pj set, which Mom is saving for her vacation in a week.    Thank you again, supermedic, and annaonthemoon, this was such a wonderful swap!

Your items are lovely! I can't wait to see the rest!

My mom started tearing up a little bit, too. I don't think any of our moms expected us to do something like this for them.

glad your mom liked.  let her enjoy her things.  I have pics here since we were supposed to be prepared to put up our own pics.

purple boot organizer since she loves her purple cowboy boots and 2 lavender drawstring sachets (one had the sage and lavender in bottom pic in it)

relaxing sleep set--pj bottoms, tank top, and matching eye mask (hope it all fits)

strawberry themed kitchen set--apron, grocery bag holder, coasters, strawberry stuffies or pincushions, pot holder and reversable drawstring goody bag

chair organizer (no she didn't get the stuff in it, that was just to show the pockets.)
Lavendar and sage (thanks to swap with auntiem)

Supermedic is quite amazing.  I must say thank you for more pictures, as my brain failed me once again and I babysat until 11 tonight.  Mom did end up bragging about her package at work today and I'm officially known as "the best child,"  a title that I take great delight in, especially around my brothers.   Grin

thanks soo much--i was really worried about the boot organizer since it just came to me in the middle of the night and i just whipped it up in about 1 hour at about 2am after being up since 6a but everyone who came to my house and saw it liked it best out of everything.

the chair organizer was mccalls 4274 just tweaked a little bit.

bronzfrog--love everything esp the jewelry.

yay, my mom just received after a big scare from the po saying it was going back to linnybelle.  she loves everything esp the lap blanket although she says its too pretty to use--its going up on the wall somewhere.  she will also be using one of the thank you notes she sent to thank her (she will also email you a thank you per her).  andi (her dog) also loves her new blanket.  mom also loves the page marker--once she realized what it was her mind was whirling on what all it would be good for besides holding open pages for her knitting--in the kitchen, to hold patterns down, etc.  she is soo crafty.  she will be sending me pics but until she gets them to me hopefully linnybelle can post pics for me.  thanks again linny and sooooo sorry for the scare.

bronzfrog, thanks for posting the pics! Your stuff looks so pretty.

Can someone please tell me what a lapblanket is? Is it basically just a small afghan, or is it something else?

Basically a small blanket.  I just got a piece of fleece that was the same length as the width and finished the edges.

Supermedic asked me to post pictures of what I sent her mom, so here goes...
A group shot:

The lapquilt:

The ladies at my summer job were all jealous and I'm very proud of this one.  All the corners match and everything!   Smiley I couldn't get a really good picture of the whole thing.  It has nine pinwheel squares, alternating between a white anchoring fabric and a pansy fabric, with a thin purple border, a larger pansy border, and then bound with extra backing fabric.  It's tied with different white buttons from my stash.  It's just big enough to fit over a lap, I've forgotten the measurements.

Here's a view of the center square, which happens to be my favorite one:

And a closer view of the corner, which shows the border fabrics:

The page holder:

It's filled with beans and works pretty well.  I tested it before I sent it.  It has an embroidered "M" on it.

Flower card set:

These all have fabric details, made out of scrap fabric from another project.  Two say some variation on "thank you" and one is completely blank.

Random fabric card:

I like using fabric on cards.  The heart is white felt and the other has a white background.

Random quote card:

The quote is "Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to keep silence" and is from Victor Hugo.

A dog mat, for Andi:

This idea came to me after my cat sat on my black pants again.  She's almost all white, so I thought sending something supermedic's mom could use when she didn't want her dog to get hair all over her clothes would be good.  It's denim and some fun fabric I had lying around.  It is reversible, but the other side isn't as interesting, I was running out of the white fabric.

Despite the heartstopping post office screw up, this was a wonderful swap!  I had a lot of fun and supermedic definitely made my mom's day!

Finally! Photos of what Haylie sent my mom:

I forgot to rotate it, but on the bottom is a reversable tote bag with a lighthouse on it, and above it is a three drawer jewelry box.  she also made a mom magnet, a necklace, and a painted shell (all sitting on the tote)

close-up of the jewelry box:

side:

top:

And Haylie made me a tote, too:

(i'm gong on a cruise with my favourite band, barenaked ladies next january)

And, both bags were reversible, so here's the inside:

Mom loved everything, and i immediately started using my bag as a purse Cheesy

I'm working at full speed today... My mom is out of town, so she won't question me about what I'm doing... I went out and bought some stuff that I could add to my package of tiny things Tongue I hope I can ship today... if not I'll do it early tomorrow...  Seeing all of your packages has me quite worried though.... I really want to send a nice package like all of you!!!

Linnybelle,
thank you sooo much for everything you sent my mother.  you really really made her day.  I am sooo sorry that I havent had time to sit down and properly thank you.  Now that I see the pictures I see why she was ranting and raving so much.  she did send me a pic but I really couldn't see the details too much in her pic.  I am so glad you got such good pictures.  Thank you soo much for all the beautiful things you send my mom.  you really outdid yourself on this swap.  anyone lucky enough to get you in the future should count their blessings.  you make beautiful things!!!!!!!!  I hope your mother enjoyed as much as my mom did.  Thanks again for a great and wonderful swap.  would love to do this one again in the future and thanks for organizing annaonthemoon.  Looks like everyones mom really made out.

Everything in the gallery is beautiful. I'm very impressed by the variety shown through the swap, and I'm very glad the post office finally delievered supermedic's mom's package.

Supermedic, I had lots of fun making things for your mom and I actually do have pictures of my mom crying while reading the letter you sent, but she didn't want those pictures posted.  I don't know why... Smiley

My mom just got her package from Bongirl5 (and at the perfect time too she had the cruddiest day at the prison and was just gonna mope at home till her bed time of 9 o'clock). I didn't get to see it but from what I heard over the phone she just loves everything, but especially loves the apron with the cow (I'm hoping Bongirl5 has photos cause my mom and new-fangled electronical things don't mix....yet). She says its exactly like the cows on her wallpaper at home and hopes that Bongirl5 doesn't mind if she wears it to work cause of all the nifty pockets. (PS my mom is a nurse at one of the prisons in Texas...not an inmate Cheesy).

If someone wants to organize one, sure. I'm going on vacation 1/21 and while I'll be back sporadically, I won't really be back until 2/25

Has another round of this swap been started already?  I'm not able to organize, but am interested in participating, as long as life doesn't throw me curve balls again.

Looking for postcards from anywhere to use for RSVP cards for my 8/2012 wedding.  Have 80/200.

I have no idea. If anyone wants to do it, go for it.
