When The Dream Becomes The Nightmare: A Model's Story

JazzMan

These were done in one session (one for each) with a model. I wish I would have had more time to put a good polish on the first one. The skeleton hung around, but the girl had to leave.

I am always putting my two cents worth in on this board and I just realized I had not posted any drawings yet, only a couple of paintings.
Comments are always welcome

I like the JazzMan drawing. Is it a street musician? I love street musicians. Is that a chair in the drawing with the skeleton? I'm sorry if I sound stupid, but could you expand on the meaning behind the drawing with the skeleton? It's just that reading the title I'm thinking you have some sort of deeper meaning. idk.  Embarrassed

Sorry for all the questions.  Embarrassed

Man I wish I could do that. I'm definantly not good with life drawings... If someone would sit still for a few days then MAYBE I'd be able to get it... but it definantly wouldn't look like those. Mine would be poo.

dreamergirl I love street musicians too- I guess it can be, it was just the prop our model decided to use Cheesy
Your questions aren't stupid. That is the back of a mirror in the skeleton picture. The model was sitting in front of a pile of stuff we had in the studio. It did not start out with this name, but on a break we started talking about that runway model (forgot her name) that was in the news- all bony.  When I sat back down to draw, looking at our model, a healthy beautiful girl very comfortable with herself as she was, realizing that  the Hollywood mind set would have her believe she needed to be thinner.  I wondered how many girls who had dreams of being models or actresses ended up destroying themselves...thus the dream becomes the nightmare.
Hope that made sense, it was the thought process behind the picture.

bleuskikems just like anything else, life drawings take practice. Some of the others I drew with did much better.  We get together as a group and hire a model- we pass the hat to pay her/his fee. Depending on the number of people its 2 to 5 dollars a session. Also our local Collage and art gallery do things of this nature. You may check around near you- there might be a place you could attend

Thanks for your comments Cheesy

I particularly like the model/skeleton picture, you did her face really wonderfully.
