How old are your boys? My son is 5, but he is way too young to see any of the Harry Potter movies. He's really prone to nightmares. He wants to see the Pirates of the Caribbean movies & the Transformers movie, but I won't let him...he'll keep me up all night! Tongue

My boys are 6, 8, and 10. To be perfectly honest my oldest is the most likely to have nightmares, however, there has never been a problem with any of the Harry Potter movies. I put my foot down when it comes to excessive language and gore or brutal violence. Pirates 1 I didn't have a problem with my boys watching, 2 I made them wait until it came out on DVD because I wasn't sure how they'd react ( I screened it first.) Pirates 3 I haven't even seen yet, because 2 didn't blow up my skirt, we'll wait for the DVD. Transformers has an very brief awkward moment about masturbation (the word was mentnioned) that my 10 year old felt we needed to discuss in the theatre, but the other 2 didn't even notice.
Other than that Transformers was a lot of cartoon type violence with the good guys winning in the end.

My 6 year old is the most Harry Potter obsessed. He already knows what is going to happen as I've read him the books. He's also seen all of the movies. We discuss what he may/may not see when we go to the theatre etc... I'm really not worried about him at all.

Also I've found that if we go to a matinee, they have the rest of the day to  get anything that may have scared them out of their heads a bit. Or at least process it. They are far less likely to have nightmares this way, than if it was one of the last things they saw before going to bed.

I think it's important to know your child's limits. Certain things would freak my kids out, and other kids wouldn't bat an eye. Where my kids are quite level headed about other things that freak other kids out.

Ezri, you are one lucky momma! My son is afraid of the strangest things! I didn't let him go see Pirates 2 b/c of the whole sea monster coming up out of the water & killing people. Knowing my son & my luck, he'd be afraid that something was going to come out of the bath tub & get him. You'd think I'd be able to reason with him, but you can't reason with him when he's scared. But I agree with you...about knowing your child's limits. Lucky for me, my son's biggest obsession is Thomas the Train. haha

My son is also afraid of the strangest things also. He's only 4 but will watch almost anything we watch, ask questions, be fine and dandy, but Toy Story 2 scares the heck out of him! It's really the only thing that has really freaked him out.

Haha...yea. For the longest time, the part on Shrek where Fiona is singing & makes the bird explode would scare the pee out of my son.

I know what you mean. My oldest (10) can watch the scariest stuff in the world. But there is one episode of the Simpsons that he has had nightmares on for years. It's the one (if anyone cares,) where Mr. Burns sort of glows, and they think he's an alien. Freaked him out terribly. The future inferi might be too far though.... I'll probably preview that one.

This one I'm a little worried about the brain tentacle thing.... other than that I'm really not worried.

I honestly had every intention of sticking to one swap this summer.  Then I saw this one... But wait! I still was able to overcome my needs, quite the accomplishment for a craft and Potteraholic.

That is until last night when this scenario ensued: my boyfriend and I, dorky as we are, were watching Star Wars Episode 3 and I decided to reread the Goblet of Fire during the boring parts (I'm rereading all of them in anticipation.) It was then that I realized that it would be a disservice to myself to not indulge the book nerd inside of me - I MUST JOIN THIS SWAP!

Especially after seeing all the groovy participants, knickertwist and hotbettie to name a few. And hopefully superhooker will take the bait, too!!!

Now to obsess over the questionnaire!!!!

Oh how I want to join! Undecided I have never done a swap though before and am having a little anxiety. I think I just barely qualify (I guess let's see if I get approved) but here it goes. Now my husband is really going to make fun of me for being a geek--he just doesn't get the whole Harry Potter thing

This is a first swap for loads of us (myself included!) so we'll all have swap anxiety together!  Cheesy
