Hi Everyone!

Here is my Tiara celebrating my love of crochet! Cold because I am FREEZING at the moment and Dark because, well, it's black! Made using black crochet cotton and a size 2mm hook, a lot of starch and secured with a bobby pin at either end. I think I might actually wear it out of the house! Thanks for looking and to all the ladies on the crochet board who never fail to inspire and encourage!

WOW.  I bow down at the feet of the Crochet Queen.  I am truly inspired.  You said you used black crochet cotton?  What brand is it?  How did you do your starching?

fuji.mama- Thanks!!! The crochet cotton I used has lost it's band, I'll try and find out what it was! The starch it I used is called "Robin", powder one in a box, the instructions said to mix about 1 tablespoon to 3 1/2 cups boiling water but I only used 1 cup, let it sit in there for a bit, squeezed it out and pinned it out on a two litre plastic coke bottle and dried it with a hair dryer! I think it could do with a bit more starch though, I think I'll try a spray one, this is the first time I've ever starched anything so there are probably better ways to do it!

That's so beautiful! How long did it take you?

Starching - if you have something that won't melt like a Coke bottle, that you can wrap around, it works well if you spray & iron dry, spray & iron. Maybe if you have a glass vase in that size? If you do that though, make sure you're doing it in a non-carpeted area. Since not all of the starch you spray will end up where you want it, you may end up with a puddle on the floor :\
