A few years ago, my MIL gave me some stuff from her MIL. Among the items were an old purse, two hankies, and this compact. I am working on a Grandma's Purse Memory Capsule. This is the first project. The compact. I had planned to simply glue a photo of Grandma inside the purse. However, I am glad I didn't get around to it before I discovered the joys of micro glass beads. Here it is!

This is my the same woman and her husband. This was the hardest one to do simply because I had to slide the tape into the frame and of course, it would stick.

This is is the same woman when she was a child, isn't it gorgeous!

Here is the tutorial: http://americanfiction.suite101.com/article.cfm/minimemory_collages

I can't believe how beautiful these look. I've never used micro beads...are they expensive? You did a fabulous job on these.

*hangs head shamefully* I've never heard of micro beads. all I know is I'm gonna find them, buy them, and use them to copy you  Cheesy

What a gorgeous way to showcase a vintage photo.  I've been dying to do something with microbeads and I think something like this will be my first project.  Thanks so much for sharing that great tutorial.

It's not that I don't want to swap, it's that I often don't have time.  But feel free to ask (especially if it's one that's not too time consuming).

I am officially addicted to micro beads. They aren't cheap but they aren't terrible - what is more expensive is the double-sided tape. I get the kind that is specifically for using with beads. I always make sure I have a coupon when I buy it.

Oh another thing about the beads...make sure you work with them in a bowl so you can funnel them back into your container. It is amazing how many projects you can do with one small vial of beads.

I am glad you all like it!
