This is going to a present for someone in the near future - a take-along drawing case with some colored pencils and a sketch pad that fastens with snaps at the corners. The outside fabric is from baby gifts my daughter never actually wore.

The inside is a swath of pants.

The covers are padded with felt to make them a little stiffer. I guess normally one would use interfacing for this purpose, but since one of my crafting tenets has been "no new materials," I made do with what I had around the house. Worked out nicely, if I do say so myself.

That is something I am trying to do too! I have over 40 yards of assorted fabric, 50 d rings, etc. etc.

That drawing book is adorable. I love the colors and it looks very professional Smiley

This looks great!  I would love to make one of these for my little cousin to have in the car on long road trips!  I just love the colors you used and your snaps look so professional!

I love this.
If I had wists, I would wist it.

IT'S BEAUTIFUL.
I want one so much.

I love, love, love, how you did the pencil holder thing.

EDIT: OK. I definitely made wists just for this purpose.
Once again, I think this is incredible.

you are so sweet! thanks so much for the compliments. I was thinking that this might actually be something i could put up on etsy (or you know, when i made more of them...) i was thinking of making ones not just for pencils - they could also have markers or other art supplies. but pencils are the prettiest i think. Smiley
