I've been (mostly) lurking here for a while but the thought struck me to make this post and I didn't really know where else to put it.

I am in complete awe at the things some of you do; there is such skill and talent and really lovely things here. I'm nowhere near as equipped - I'm a good artist (mostly sketching in various mediums, I'm not so talented with other forms like painting and 3D/ceramics etc) and a good writer (prose, rather than poetry) but even with those things (that I love) I don't have any inspiration to create something. I don't have a sewing machine, although I can vaguely and crappily sew by hand I guess, but only badly. I've tried knitting but I'm not at all good at it. I'm okay at baking. But being on craftster makes me really want to DO something and MAKE something!

So I guess my (er, introductory?) question is, where do you find your inspiration? And maybe more importantly, any crafts or projects or new trades you'd suggest for someone like me (who's also poor)?

Thanks for everything, and *waves* hello  Tongue

Welcome to craftster!
I am among the poor folk also- I find the recycle reuse type of crafting to be  my most affordable-and very rewarding when completed-  you might look for inspiration there...
I love atc's, which are small so they do not require a lot of money either!
Roam around until you see something interesting to you- then just try!  Cheesy

Hi Siren!  I agree with meanderingartist, I love ATCs and there are even "lists" that you can try to create from. The best thing about ATCs is there are no rules, and it's mixed media so you can cut and paste, paint/draw even make them out of fabric.

Don't give up on learning to knit or sew if it's what you want to do. Just because a book says "do it this way" doesn't mean you have to! Thrift stores are awesome for fabric and yarn. You can sometimes score great stuff in the craft area or you can unravel some yummy yarn on a sweater for some great projects!

Welcome to crafster...your new addiction!

Just trying to find me...

Wow, I didn't even know what ATCs were and now I'm really excited to start some - my only worry is cutting up all that paper so small Tongue But this is fantastic, just what I need to get me started again! Thanks so much Meandering and Gomerriffic, and hey, hopefully I'll see you soon in one of the ATC posts  Grin
