Well, here is my new kitchen. I have been collecting old metal lunch boxes for years and wanted to do a theme around them. So this is what I came up with, what better way to highlight old ,unch boxes that with a sorta 50's color scheme.
Here are some before's:

And here are the afters:
(I made the curtain, even though i really cant sew for sh*t, lined and everything, found some great reproduction vintage fabric at hancocks that matches beautifully)

(I found some images of old lunch box ads from the 50's-60's and I printed them and framed them, painted cheap wooden picture frames with the same paint I didnt the cabinets in)

I have a few more things I need to add, I still havent found any rugs I like that will work and I am bidding on an old canister set on ebay that is the same color.

What ya think?

very awesome!  I think everything looks great together and the new kitchen highlights the lunch boxes very well.  And by the way, I love the lunch boxes, and must say I'm a bit envious of the care bear one I think I spy Wink

Very retro, and an awesome job! Love the displays of lunchboxes, and how everything is very streamlined as in the 50's.  Smiley

Were we seperated at birth?  I LOVE that colour, and I, too, collect tin lunch boxes.  Great minds think alike, they say Cheesy
Great job, I dig it!  Wish we didn't live in military housing so I could do something like this >_<

I know how you feel, we lived in rental houses for over 10 years untill we bought this house two years ago, it took me two years to get over my fear of painting, now I am on a total roll and will probably have my house all the colors of the rainbow by the end of the summer.
Let me know if there are any lunchboxes you are looking for, I find a good deal on them all the time, but most of the time I already have it.

Holy moly! And I thought I had a lot of lunch boxes. Is it something with the name Jen? I absolutely adore the color you chose. I think I'm jealous  Cheesy

Oh man.... your kitchen is seriously, amazingly perfect.  That color is *exactly* what I want my kitchen to be--I have a little bit of an obsession for yellow kitchen accessories, and I so want to set it off with turquoise and red.  And the layout and cabinetry is identical to my great-aunt's oh-so-50's kitchen, so it feels familiar and comfortable.

Excellent choice for your lunchbox collection!  Smiley
