I love the Fat Bottom Bag from The Happy Hooker, but I can't afford to buy the book for one pattern.  Are there any similar patterns out there?  I've seen the "Chic on the Half Shell", which is cute, but not what I want.  I want something "poofy" like the FBB.  Any suggestions?

Get the book from the library? Its a fantastic book! There may be more than one pattern in there youd like.

Sadly, I dont know of any other patterns but you could try searching crochetpatterncentral.com for something similar you like

Well now that makes sense...I haven't been to the library since I moved here in November!  I guess I forgot that they exist.  Sad

I hope they have it...I'll check on my way home from work.  Thanks for the idea!

Oh, and I searched through crochetpatterncentral until I was tired of looking at bags and didn't find what I was looking for.  I found lots of others that I want, though!   Grin

Does your library have an online search function? Our library does. Does your library do interlibrary loan? most public libraries and universities do. So even if your library doesnt have it, you can ask them to interlibrary loan it to you

The good news is that it is at the library that is 2 blocks from my office.   Smiley

The bad news is that it is checked out.   Angry

Guess I'll have to wait until after I get back from vacation.  I was hoping to be able to work on the bag on the plane...I'll just have to find another project.  Thanks again for the suggestion!   Grin

There is a very similar pattern called Pretty Purse.  It is on the Coats & Clark site.  Just type in Pretty Purse in the search box and you will have the pattern.

Yeah, I depend on the internet too much these days.

I'm planning to check it out after my vacation as well. Don't want to pay any late fees. Tongue

I just went through the Coats and Clark site to find a link for kelibare and wasn't able to find one. Maybe it was from a different site?

nevermind, I found the link:

http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Knitting/Projects/Accessories/LW1369+Pretty+Purses.htm.

It was under the knitting section.  Roll Eyes

I'm amused about the "look it up at the library" advice -- i went onto amazon.com yesterday with the local library catalogue open in the other foxfire window, and searched and placed holds for all the books I wanted to buy. Sure, I'm seventh in line for some of them, but I can't crochet them all at once, anyways!
