I made this about a year ago, but JUST discovered Craftster recently (can't you tell?)!  My sister-in-law asked me to make the baby's cake for my niece's first birthday (she would buy the big cake for everyone else).  So I did it... after learning cake decorating, buying supplies, doing 2 test runs, and spending four hours decorating the cake...

Okay, not perfect, but I learned from a book... I never got a thank you from the SIL... so maybe some of my dear Craftsters will appreciate?
I can make almost anything out of polymer clay! :P

Aw, so pretty! I'd be proud to have such a lovely cake for my little one's first birthday (still several months away).

First off, welcome to craftster!

I think your cake is gorgeous! How did you ever have the patience to take so much time and effort into something like a cake?!?

I'm sorry your SIL didn't show her appreciation. I, however, think that your cake is worthy of loads of praise.

I am still in shock that you can learn from a book, too. My learn knitting from a book attempts were never successful.

That is really cute! I think it looks really good. As for your SIL- at least you got invited to your neice's party- I have yet to be invited to any of my nephew's parties- no bad blood, they are just jerks! I digress, it really is a good job!

My SIL neglected to invite us to our nephew's first birthday too  Undecided.  That's all water under the bridge now though.

Your cake is soo lovely!  People with kids sometimes get distracted and they forget that immediate family needs thanks and recognition too.  She may have thought that you just whipped this thing out in no time and couldn't wait to have a reason to make perfect pink frosting roses... Smiley
