My dad is 72 tomorrow (72 going on 14, really).  I asked what he wanted for his birthday and he demanded a home-made card.  So I decided to cross stitch something for him.  This was only the second thing I ever cross stitched so while I know it's not very elaborate, I am really proud of it!

(the vintage car fabric in the background is my sewing machine cover)

And I am going to write in it "Have a roaringly good birthday" because that's the sort of rotten joke that he would appreciate Smiley

This is too adorable. I'm just getting (back) into cross-stitch myself, and it looks like you did a great job!

I think this is wonderful! Remember just because it's not 'elaborate' doesn't mean it's not amazing! Im sure your dad will love it and the care you put into making it for him.

Snap! I havent cross-stitched in about 8/9 years but I saw a really nice largeish pattern free on one of the stitch mags and thought it would make a lovely centre piece for a cushion for my Mum's new crafting study.
