Hi all, I'm new but after reading through other posts I decided I couldn't wait to show off some of my work too. Grin

I'm a nester, and I LOVE color - as these pics can attest to! This is work that my husband and I did when we moved in... well, he did the one-color painting and installed hardware, and I did the rolling/ragging painting, mural, sewed all the hanging curtains, and decorating and whatnot. It's been almost 2 years these photographs were, but this is pretty much how things still look (maybe I'll take updated pics at some point).

Befores are on the left, afters on the right - and click pictures to see a larger size. Smiley

Aren't the afters on the left? Huh

I love the mural and the hanging things in the hallway!

Oops, you're right! I'll go fix that.

Thanks! I love those little hanging things... I got them at Ten Thousand Villages, and they traveled with me from my last apartment.

We were somewhat limited in what we could do because we're renters (though our landlady bought us the paint, which was great!), but I really love the feel of our apartment - to me, it feels cozy and cheery.

You are so lucky you can paint AND your landlord bought the paint! My landlord is so strict, we can't paint, can't put "unauthorized" items on the balcony (luckily plants and patio chairs are "authorized") and all our curtains have to have white linings! BUT, I absolutely love the colors you chose! And those windows are so awesome! (I heart diamond panes!) Beautiful work! Wish I could come hang out in your apartment!

Thanks JS! I was really glad I could paint... but then again, I was planning on it when I went apartment hunting.

And I think our landlady bought the paint partially because she was aware that the way it was painted before we moved in was HIDEOUS! The pictures don't show how awful the reddish brown and muddy brown walls were (whoever painted used semi-gloss paint! on plaster and paneled walls! talk about exaggerating flaws - yuck!). I guess it also helped that her husband is a housepainter.

Thank you!

MFZB - the table cloth is from Ecuador, where I also got the wall hangings that are in my dining room and study (and some other stuff around my house). I visited my grandmother in Ecuador before moving in, so it definitely helped inspire my decor.  Actually, some of the plants on the bathroom mural were taken from photographs of my trip.

I love color, and it helps me get through cold, dark winters!
