Or any other die shape cutter thing a majig. I am doing alot of stamping now I have my new crafting space at home and have vowed to pull out the 2 scrap books I started a few years back and finish them as well as my sons books.  I was thinking about adding  one of these  to use in my room for both my cards and scrapbooks.  Many stampers use the cuttlebug  because it has embossing folders  for dry embossing  I have not looke much at any of them  yet I was waiting for after vaction to buy one and would look then, Money is not really a problem I have saved up $500  to buy one with templates and other supplies I might NEED.  I wanted to know what y'all on here used and what you liked and disliked about it.  It hink word of mouth will ultimately be how I buy if one gets lots of bad reviews.  TIA

Okay... I'm going to be very upfront. I've never used any die-cutting machines. But if you're looking for information and opinions on each you can try at scrapbook.com. Especially in the product review forum or the beginners forum. Doing a quick search reveals all kinds of posts about this sort of thing.

Thanks I will check that out, I see on splitcoaststampers.com, many prefer the cuttlebug, but I have not seen those in Texas, although I have not looked much, I kinda wanted to see them up close too.  Thanks

I have a Sizzix and a Cricut machine. I LOVE the Cricut for lettering!!! If that is what you will be using it for, get it. I have the older one, but I hear the newer (more expensive) one does more shapes as well as the letters. I use my Sizzix when I need bigger diecut shapes.

I saw all the Sizzex lettering and machine on sale this weekend and almost bought it until one sales person told me that they are discontinuing the product.  Through it was cheap I didn't want to be limited with whatever dies and lettering that I can find.  I was thinking about getting a cuttlebug machine b/c I enjoy scrapbooking but what holds me back from doing more of it is the lettering.

Has anyone tried it/have one?  Any 'not so good' results?

I had a feeling they were discontinuing the sizzix. There was a 50% off sale at Michaels and all the dies are still 50% off. I am trying to buy whatever catches my fancy because I have no idea how long they will be available. I really want the newer cricut machine. I saw it on a QVC or HSN show and it looked awesome.

Aw, and I was so excited for the Sizzix to be on sale and almost got one.  Bummer that they're discontinuing it Sad.

Do you know if there's a reason for the discontinue?  I realize scrapbook supplies come and go, and it might just be that it's "past it's prime", but it still seems strange to discontinue that brand of die cut maker, when the Cricut is pretty new, isn't it?

What the sales person in Michael's told me was that two craft companies merged together and produced Sizzix, and now they are dissolving the merger and neither company wants to continue producing the product line.  It really sucks b/c it seemed like the most versitile machine.

they are not discontinuing the sizzix dies. i just redid the sizzix section at the joanns i work for.. there aren't as many dies as we had before.. but there are a lot of new ones. also, we stopped selling the large sizzix machine and we're now carrying the side kick and the big side kick which i believe are more or less the same, just lighter weight : )

as for which one to use, i can't really help you there.. i hear that the cricut machine is awesome.. but i've never been able to buy one myself... farrrr too expensive for me!
