Wow, so many awesome packages in such a short time!  Everybody has made such cool stuff.  I think it is really neat to see how people take similar ideas and do such different stuff with them.  Every one of the clutches I've seen have been gorgeous, and those owl hats are just too awesome!  And I almost want to learn to knit to make those cool owl cables - so subtle and fun!  craftADDchick - I espeically love that hat you made, and the string art is WOW!  Whee!  This swap is great!

cough cough

Owlfred (my fiance named him) just read about giantsquid's idea of his possible future as a pincushion!  I don't think I could stab needles into him - he's much too cute.  I don't think Alfred Owlfred approves either.

These owls will have a happy home in my kitchen, as they're on a towel which is perfect for kitcheny exploits of the non-staining variety (i.e. only used to dry dishes I've washed as the fiance tends to sometimes miss a few spots).  They go pretty good with my little pot rest dealy, eh?

I tried to get a good shot of that button, because it really was chosen well.  Goes with the fabric in a most stellar manner.  Also, the embroidery is much better than pictured.

The inside, with some thread thrown in for scale.

And the apron.  I actually wore this out on a walk with the partner.  Makes small crochet projects even more portable!  Some girls like to show off their muscular legs* or silly status bags.  I like to show off my owlies and celebrate my fellow craftistas.

than you, giant squid!

*(aint nothin' wrong with showing off your legs, muscular or not, btw).

Thanks folks! The owl hat is actually the same pattern as the little owl stuffie- I just enlarged it a bunch on the copier and didn't stitch the bottom closed. I have enough fleece leftover so I'm definitely making one for myself, too!

And thanks for all of the positive comments on the string art. Once it was finished and the numbness in my fingers had worn off, I kept picking it up to admire it. Couple of glitches, but overall not bad. I was just worried that it had crossed the line from retro into... something else. But, I had so much fun with the stringing part (it was actually very soothing once I got going), I'm going to see if I can find some pattern books at the library and make a few other things...
