I got started in quilting to have something to do with my wife while she did  her thing making clothes.

This is not my first quilt, I have made others, but I like this one well enough to make a post displaying it.

The squares are two inches with a quarter inch seam allowance so the whole thing measures about 36' by 66'.  The backing is some flannel that the wife and I bought on the cheap.  It is tied, I don't have the time with three jobs to actually quilt things flat.

The edges are just the backing fabric rolled over the quilt top.  Simple and easy, just the way I like it.  A blanket stitch was used to tack the edges down.

The first shot is of the whole quilt.

The next shot is detail of the head.

This one shows the backing fabric that we found.  Blue with swirlies, so when someone comes by that doesn't understand who Mario is, the quilt can be flipped over to prevent awkward questions.

Very cool.  How did you decide how to lay out the square?  Did you just blow up a very pixelated image of Mario?

And who wouldn't understand who Mario is!!!

Mama to baby twins.  Frantic crafter while they nap!

I love it!  I think my parents who are in their late 60's don't understand who Mario is.

You paid what??
