Decoupaged wine bottles...for a good cause...at the cost of my carpet
«

Thank god for a miscellaneous category!
I would like to proudly show off the bottles created by me and my walking team (we are doing the 3-Day 60 mile Breast Cancer Walk). We are hoping to get donations for these bottles to reach our fundraising goals of $2200 each! (I'm still new so can't post pics yet though...so follow the link if you are so inclined.)
So, it started with red wine spilled all over the table, wall, chair, and carpet...these are my friends springing into action [image blurred to protect their identity
Apparently this was an important part of our process.]:
Materials while in the process:
We ended up using Tacky Glue (because there was no Elmer's to be had in my town.) I did a mix of 50/50 water and glue. I believe a fellow crafster recommended submerging the entire image into the glue so I did that, coating the back and front with good success. From experience and probably a "duh", I definitely recommend some pre-planning for I kept having these tiny gaps occur and trying to find an image for *that* space with glue ALLLL over my fingers was a big challenging.
Here's our finish project, my two are the yogi bottles in the front:
(sorry for the glare)
Love to hear what you all think and any other suggestions you'd recommend that would be easy for a group to make to get donations for...I have a ton of magazines, fabric and a whole room of art supplies. Probably only one of us would really claim true artistic ability though.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

Those are AWESOME! They would be great as candle holders or something similar.
As for something else to make out of your magazines... I saw some great coasters at Anthropologie and have been meaning to make my own.
I can't find them on the website but here's some similar ones:
http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?catId=3&itemId=14553
Basically you fold the paper into a skinny strip (the width of the strip will be the thickness of the coaster) and roll it up into a spiral. Then continue making other strips and wrapping them around until it's the size you want!
Easy, and all you need are magazines or newspapers and glue.

They're funky! Making broaches from felt, with or without beads or buttons on the front, is relatively quick/easy/cheap and you can make a variety of styles to suit all tastes/budgets.

something I did a long while back...got some cheap clear glass plates at Wal-Mart, appropriate decopauge supplies and mags, and headed home. Then proceeded to cut out pictures and sort into themes, and then decopauged the themes onto the BACK of the plates, leaving a few gaps. Paint over the backs of the deco when dry, letting it peek through the holes. TADA! something to display. I had attatched hooks to hang it from with apoxy for glass and just stuck the loops in it, let it set for 24hrs and hung with wire.

Unfortuneately, I don't, I made those a good 6 years ago. But they're easy, and after a few flubs, you get the hang of it and they turn out nice. Good luck
