I made this for a friend this past winter and never posted it. I made it up as I went. There are things I would change if I did it again, but it was a learning experience! And it was a good excuse to use lovely Artyarns supermerino.

Absolutely gorgeous!

Do you happen to have the pattern written down? I have a best friend going off to college in the NE part of the U.S. and am making a ton of knitted goodies. I would love to make her something like this!

Of course I'm a total tool and didn't keep notes. But it should be easy to recreate, except maybe the decreases, which are my least favorite part anyway. I got the braided cable from the 2nd Barbara Walker treasury. There are four of the cables, separated by a 1 x 1 rib. I think if you find a cable you like, you can figure out how many stitches you need to get the right size hat, decide how many cables you want, and fill in the rest with ribbing or another pattern.
Not very helpful, I know, but I encourage you to try making up your own pattern - it was really fun, and easier than I thought it would be. Good luck!
