This is kinda old skool stuff so I'm sure there are a million on here already, but it was my first sewing project so I'm still excited to show it off. Smiley It cost about $8 to make: one bath towel, half a hand towel and 3 strips of ribbon. Its going to make a great baby shower gift for my cousin! My next project is making matching ones for my kids' swimsuits.

The tute I made for this is under the sewing for kids board. You can go over there to check it out! Wink

This is very cute!  Did you have a pattern to go by?  I love how you added the ribbon, it really makes it.

Thank you! No pattern, my friend knows how to make them and she just showed us how. Its super easy. I could do a tute with pictures sometime this week, I have a blue one I still need to finish.

Basically you take a hand towel, cut it in half, sew the ribbon on, fold the corners in, sew down, cut off excess fabric, voila! the hood! Then pleat the back of the bath towel, and sew the hood to it. I know thats kinda hard to imagine, but its just to say its pretty easy. I'll try to get some pics up soon that'll explain better. Smiley

I would LOVE at tute!  I work at a school and everytime I turn around I have to get a baby shower gift or a wedding shower present.  I like to have easy cute gifts that I can make and save a little money...  Grin

Thank you for sharing how you made this!
I received a similar one at a baby shower and it is wonderful - all the baby towels out there are so thin and small while this one is thick and big and has a hood too. I've been dying to make another one, but kind of stumped as how to make it.
Love the colours and the ribbon on this one. Very cute!

What a great idea!  and seems easy enough to tackle.

I have WONDERFUL memories of a baby towel like this that we had growing up.  Even as we got older and way bigger, we always wanted the hooded towel because it was just so snuggly.  I may have to make one for myself!

Here's the link to the tute.  Thanks so much for this!  Can't wait to try to make one.
