Because I found this GORGEOUS beaded silk yarn: http://www.fabulousyarn.com/artyarns_beadedsilk.shtml

And mom says that if I can find an absolutely BEAUTIFUL pattern (for me to make something for her, of course Tongue) then she'll invest in getting it.

That yarn is amazing...would your mom buy some for me?  Cheesy

They're not really patterns, but a couple things that I can think of:
1) Garter stitch scarf on huge needles comes out looking like lace.  (And by huge, I mean US 17s...minimum.)

2) Dropstitch scarf or shawl.  Here's a good basic pattern, although you'd have to cast on more stitches than she did.

3) This would look beautiful in any lace pattern...but I don't consider lace easy (and there are miles of frogged yarn to back me up on that).  Other people may have some ideas for other shawl or scarf patterns.

I've not actually used this yarn...so maybe someone who has can post some more detailed ideas.

I recently saw a clapotis made from that yarn, on someone's blog. Here. Clapotis is super easy, and very pretty, although a bit boring to knit.

That yarn is $34 /100 yards and a clapotis takes 820 yards.  Cha-ching!

Mistake?  No... it's an Unexpected Design Element.  I put it there on purpose.  *ahem*

i say mini clapotis!

clapotis is a great mindless knit and can be adjusted to any width or length. to make a mini-clapotis, just work section 2 once (do not repeat it) and then move to section 3.

clapotis is great for yarns like that b/c it really shows off the beauty of the yarn.
