Sooooo! Those of you who have been keeping up with this thread know that I have been working on a costume for this year's Anime Central for about a year now. I think I bought the first supplies last August. Anyway, ACen '07 is now behind us, sadly. But on the bright side, I won one of the top nine costume awards in the Masquerade! The competition was pretty stiff, and I honestly didn't expect anything. But I was absolutely thrilled. It's so validating to get recognition after all that hard work Wink

So here are pictures, and my incredibly long-winded explanation will follow. Feel free to not read it. Wink

The first picture. I forgot to take my stupid badges off.

I was just adjusting my bangs and Jessica (Utena in the other thread) snapped a picture! Weirdly enough, the colors just came out that way, with no Photoshopping.

Emo tree pose #1. I almost caught my hairsticks on the tree and broke them ;____;

Emo tree pose #2, complete with silly look on face.

This picture was unsalvageably bad, so I decided just to Photoshop the crap out of it. XD You can see the lace, though. It looks white, but is really very lightly colored.

Lookit them boobies! I am normally very flat-chested, but corsets can work wonders in that department.

Jessica is like, "Do magic! Do magic!" So here is Firaga, complete with crappy lens flare. Wink I do kind of like the angle, though.

Probably my favorite full-body picture of the set. My boobs look big here, too. So hard to sit down in all those belts.

Deathglare! :O

I like the way the fur looks in this picture.

What you say, Moogle?

Just for reference.

So! That's it. Once I manage to get a decent picture of my trophy, I'll post that too (it's etched glass and doesn't photograph well).

Q: What all did you make on this costume?
A: Everything that's visible! I wove the belts, painted the lacy-looking flowers, sewed the fur and the three underskirts, sewed and boned the corset, made the wig (I started with a shoulder-length black one, cut, stubbed and cornrowed it, and added on extensions for the bun and braids), beaded the necklaces, sculpted the hairsticks, drilled the earrings, made the moogle...You name it! The only things I didn't make were my underwear and shoes! Cheesy

Q: How many belts are in that skirt, and how much does it weigh?
A: 48, and it weighs 17.6 pounds.

Q: How long is that wig?
A: The braids in back are 4 feet from bun to tip. (I'm really tall!)

Q: Could you walk in it?
A: Not without hiking up my belts, but I got the waddle down after a while.

Q: Where did you carry stuff?
A: My moogle had a zipper in his back, and I hid my cell phone in my cleavage. Tongue

Q: Is that real lace?
A: Nope, they're just painted on with acrylic and puffy paint, and cut out to shape along the edges.

Thanks for looking! Cheesy I'm so happy to have finished it.

I'm not doing personal swaps right now, but if you're interested, go ahead and PM me anyway--maybe we can work it out for later. Smiley

Wow, that looks absolutely incredible alltogether. I'm so impressed with your attention to detail! Even your necklaces and earrings match!

Congratulations on winning a prize in the costume contest!

So awesome!  Lulu was my favorite from FFX.

Eco-friendly items, patterns, hippies, and more.

I'm on Ravelry, too!
