When in Vancouver you have to check Urban Source.  http://www.urbansource.bc.ca

It has so many wonderful goodies and it is all recycled materials!

Check it out!

Thanks for the link! I have been in there before and I was thinking about it the other day, but I couldn't remember what it was called, or where it was!

Does anyone know where I can find purse supplies, like handles and closures, in Vancouver? I don't remember seeing them at Dressew, but there is a lot to see there...
Thanks.

I have seen bamboo handles at Douglas Trading post on Granville.  I think they were pretty cheap, too, like $2-3.

I posted some of these on glitter today and realized I still hadn't done so on craftster so here you go:

Fabric / Notions

Dressew - 337 West Hastings, Vancouver

Big fabric selection at very good prices upstairs, the best notions department downstairs.  Almost everything you could ever want and a bunch of stuff you didn't even know you needed.

Button Button - 422 W. Cordova
A tiny little shop full of buttons, buttons!

Fabricana -  1348 United Blvd, Coquitlam
(also in Richmond & Surrey)

Fanny's Fabrics - 1365 United Blvd, Coquitlam

There is another place (can't remember the name!) beside Fanny's and across the street from Fabricana that is a discount fabric store.

Maiwa Handprints in the Net Loft on Granville Island
http://www.maiwa.com/
Fabric paints and the like.

Paper

Paper Poet - 665 Columbia, New Westminster
http://www.paperpoet.ca
Great paper, envelopes, cool stamps, sealing wax and stamps plus my friend Tanya owns the shop and she is fantastic! Smiley

Art Supplies

Opus (Granville Island, North Van & Langley)

http://www.opusframing.com/
Loomis (on Main near Terminal)
http://www.loomisartstore.com/engl/promo/index.asp
All sorts of art supplies and some craft stuff, too.

I have been going to urban source since I was 7. It use to be a store for kids called imagination market where kid went and made little craft things. I think it closed b/c not enough business but urban source branched off it and im glad

the store in coquitlam is textile clearance house and there's another location in vancouver (41st and fraser). everything is under $10 a yard, and it's great place to get notions and patterns. memberships are $5 a year and they have 50% notion sales and $1 pattern sales for members all the time. i buy pretty much all my fabric there, except for the odd quilting cotton from fabricana. they carry all the same stuff as fabricland will have, but half the price, and lots of older stock that you can't find anywhere. i tend to think of it as a treasure hunt, then you won't be bothered as much by the mess and the rude staff. (they're owned by fabricland, though they'll never admit to it, and their staff are really poorly paid, so they tend to be kinda rude)

I get all of my fabric from Dressew. It's the best and it has anything craft-related you can imagine plus alot more. And it's pretty cheap! Also, Fanny's is great too!
