I am lucky enough to live near several scrapbook stores. They have classes or meetings or something called crops. So can someone tell me what the heck is a crop? (Haha don't say corn, oats, beans & taters!)

I've only gone to a couple, so I'm no expert.  The crops I went to at a store were free (though some charge a small fee), and participants brought most of their own stuff for whatever project they were working on.  The store had some equipment we could use (paper cutters, Sizzix, layout guides, etc.), and of course you could buy whatever else you needed.  People shared advice and supplies, and it was basically a group getting together to scrapbook or make other paper crafts.

Well, yeah, there might be a bit of actual cropping of photocopies of photos, too  Grin

A CROP is a nickname for a bunch of people getting together and scrapbooking.

You shouldn't be shy about going.  It's normally a wide cariety of people there.  From advanced to newbies Smiley  Plus, it gives you a good chance to work with some equipment you don't have and see if you would actually want to purchase something Smiley

a crop is basically a scrapbooking party. Depending on how it's run, you bring your own photos and supplies, and sometimes there are communal supplies you might not own, like Xyron machines and Sizzix machines.  Some places that run crops also offer their products at a discount that night only, or provide a "goodie bag" with a few stickers in it.

you can crop with a few friends in your house for afew hours, or even go away for a whole week of scrapbooking!

it's called a crop because the act of cutting up the photos for scrapbooking is called cropping the photos.

Hope that helped!
