how do you get straight lines while quilting?

you can either draw the lines on with a wash-out pencil or marker, or use a quilting bar attachment, which attaches to the presser-foot shank and sticks out to the side. you stitch one line on your own, using a ruler and pencil or somesuch, and then line the quilting bar up with that line for the next row, and so on and so forth. it keeps the distance between the lines the same, and keeps them nice and straight.

Okay here is the version I made which came out ok, but I still had a few issues. I tried to do this with a lining and sew it all together at the same time which came out ok, except the fact that it left the serged edges inside exposed. I think If I sew bias tape over the top it is an easy fix. My biggest issue with this bag is once you pinch the corners. I made another smaller one after this and I had the same problem. The sides just come out too large and not exactly straight. I mean you don't notice it too bad. I made all the tabs the same size so I am not sure what is going on. Of course I always sucked at math! LOL you should've seen me try to calculate this thing! It took me like 4 hours to make!

I think the colors are great! It looks like something you'd get from a makeup counter as a promo item, but better. Smiley

I'm in love with this.

I'm gonna make some, and I'll post back once they're finished.

This little bag is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing. I found some fabric in the bargain center that will work just perfect for this ... and then I bought a zipper that is too short :S Oh well. Guess that means another trip to Fabricland Smiley

I am definately going to make this. I LOVE bright colors. So I love how it looks. You did a really good job making it. All the quilting you did too, that takes a lot of work. Bet you sis is happy.

I have paint all over my fingers and fabric all over the floor. Yeah it was a good day!
