NEW RULES: In order to comply with the new swap rules, ALL BIRTHDAY BABES WHO POST A BIRTHDAY WISH LIST MUST FULFILL A BIRTHDAY WISH OF AT LEAST ONE FELLOW BIRTHDAY BABE.  In other words, if you post a list and receive a gift, you must send at least one gift.  Non-birthday craftsters may still send "unconditionally".  Unconditionally in this swap means if someone fulfills one of your birthday wishes, you will send them a thank you note via snail mail.  PM's or thank you posts do not count as thank you notes.  Negative feedback will be given for those who post lists and receive, but never send.  Negative feedback will also be given to those who don't send a thank you note. Please read below for the exact details.  They are in BOLD.

Swap name: May 2007 Birthday Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: heini

FOR POSTING BIRTHDAY LISTS Sign-up date range: 05/02/07-05/31/07
FOR CHOOSING A BIRTHDAY WISH TO FULFILL Sign-up date range: 05/02/07 - 05/31/07
DATE TO SEND ITEMS BY:  2 weeks after you claim someone unless other arrangements are made ahead of time

Limited to a certain number of people?: No.
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? No.
All ages allowed.

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Details of swap:  This swap was organized so everyone can get something crafty for their birthday!  Please read the guidelines carefully.

    * If your birthday is in May, then you can post your birthday wish list for this month. To do that, you must first PM me with the Swap questionnaire filled out.
    * Once you have been approved, you may post your list of things that you would want to receive.  The more you think of, the better.  Please try to have a good mix of items on your list.  The last wish you will post is "a surprise."  Then you will post a bio about yourself, including where you are from and what day your birthday is.
    * Please post lists only.  No discussion on this thread please.
    * Everyone will then go through the lists and choose a craftster they want to send a birthday gift to.  Your birthday does not have to be in May for you to craft for someone!  If you want to choose someone, just PM me with your info (including your address, please), who you want to craft for, what item, and I will send you their address.
    * When you choose to fulfill a birthday wish, you have 2 weeks to get the item out the door unless you communicate in advance that something will take a bit longer.  If two weeks pass, and I don't hear anything from youyou guessed it, negative feedback!
    * Each person can be chosen unlimited times!  HERE'S THE CATCH - when you get chosen, you must choose a fellow May baby to send a birthday wish to before May 31, 2007.  You must also send the person who crafted for you a thank you note within 2 weeks of receiving.   Failure to do either of these things will result in NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.
    * It is super important for everyone to keep good communication
.  It is required that when you send, let me know, and of course, don't forget the DC#.  It is required that when you receive, let me know and publicly announce in the gallery (even if you don't have pictures).  Also, let me know when you send off or receive your thank you note (no DC# required, you're on your honor!).
    * You can choose to craft for as many people as you like, but you cannot "owe" more than 3 things.  If you are a newbie and this is your first swap, you must successfully send once before choosing again.
    * Please state at the beginning of your list where you are located.  Some people absolutely cannot send to people overseas for any number of reasons.  We need to respect this valid concern.
*When one of your items is chosen, please cross it out so that it is easier for others to see what has been chosen.  It wouldn't hurt to thank the person at this time either.

If you have any more questions or suggestions, you can send me a PM with "May Birthday Swap " in the subject line.

I'll be 27 on 4th of May and I live in Finland.

My wish list:
-Hand made birthday card Thanks Alteredmommy!
-Buttons/pins/badges and/or patches with something crafty
-Pillows or pillow cases (40cm/16inch or bigger)
-Magic yarn ball (I'm a crocheter)
-Stamping supplies
*Any kind of stamps. New, used, handmade, unmounted, rubber, clear... But
         nothing too cute, please.
     *Ink pads
     *Embossing powder
-Nice crochet hooks: polymer clay handles, bamboo, fun colours
-Measure tape with inches. I only have a metric one. Thanks RedMenace!
-Paper craft supplies: patterned papers, punches, brads, eyelets etc. Thanks Alteredmommy!
-Marble magnets. Monkey Island or Mucha/art nouveau themed would be awesome.
-Craft books and/or magazines
-Tatting kit or shuttles
-Vegetarian/vegan cookbook or recipe cards with Indian/Chinese/Lebanese/Other interesting recipes Thanks RedMenace!
-Something from/inspired by my wists. But I don't need more chokers.
-Fun socks, like fish net or stripes. Knee high or higher. My shoe size is 38.
-If someone is from France, I'd love Berurier Noir CD or other stuff.
-Toys, treats or other things for my cats, who have birthday in May too.
-T-shirt/tank top with text "Pitsinnyplj"
-Embellishments for crazy quilts and/or paper crafts (beads, buttons, ribbon...)

Happy Birthday everyone! My name is Heini and I'm almost 27 years old. My favourite colours are red and black. I don't like yellow or pastels. I'm an artisan in textiles, so I craft both at home and at work. Sewing, crocheting and paper crafting are my favourites. When I'm not crafting I like to cook and bake, and last year I got interested in gardening too. Things I like: dark colours, paisley, cats, recycling, Twin Peaks, Monkey Island, Art Nouveau.

Sending previously owned things or using recycled materials is fine.

I don't have allergies, but I'm vegetarian, so no leather, gelatin or things like that for me please.

Hi! My name is Tasha and I will be 23 on May 9th (is it just me or do they sort of become regular days after the big 2-1?). I live in Wilmington, North Carolina (Dawsons Creek geek who lives in her dream world, what can I say?). Heres my birthday wish list:

- Im not sure if we can request edibles, but I have been DYING for banana bread. Im not allergic to anything, so feel free to add walnuts or whatever. (thanks piratetreasure!)

- etched shot glasses (thanks GougeAway!)

- handmade bath salts, candles, or bath bombs. Pretty much any scent besides patchouli. Florals and citrus work. Smiley

- ocean/blue themed bead-orgy bracelet like phizzychick made for devilninny pictured here (my wrist is about 5.5")

- cluster ring size 4.5 or 5 (made originally by catpants)

- laundry bag

- toys for my 2 adorable kitties (thanks Modern Janis!)

- magnets for our bare, sad little fridge (thanks Modern Janis!)

- art to dress up my otherwise bland apartment. Being in our 20s, we have no theme. lol.

- silk-screened tee (XS/S, 33-34 bust)

- tea cups/mugs, a ceramic teapot, or one of those ball-thingies (infuser?) you use to put loose tea in (I love tea!) (thanks GougeAway and piratetreasure!)

- fabric headbands or head scarves (silk/silk like?)

- mulitcolored sharpies (who doesn't need some?)

- zelda: twilight princess or wii themed things for my loving boyfriend.

- something from my wists

- a surprise!!

I'm living with my boyfriend of two years. we both grew up in northern Ohio (boy, do i miss Cedar Point!), and from there, we moved down to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina after we had been together for only three months. i'm not in school at the moment (i'm not sure what i want to do yet), but i plan to go back in the future. i love to read, and i used to act a lot. I've been an extra on One Tree Hill once, which was actually fun. i'm a big cat person (here's a picture of my babies, Koa and Kalix). i also like to knit, but i don't do so very often. i'm on my first sweater (which i started back in september) and just had to rip out my one finished sleeve and 1/4 of the second because i cast on too few for the first. dang. when i'm not doing any of that, i'm working as a hostess. putting on a happy face all day while hearing all sorts of complaints wears a girl out, you know!

happy birthday, my fellow craftsters!

Hi! I'm Sarah and I'll be turning 25 on the 25th Golden Birthday (plus it's a Friday, and i get off work and will have a 4 day weekend thanks to that and Memorial Day), so it oughta be a great day. I live in Illinois.

My list:
a foam head (or glass or a mannequin, but I understand those are pretty hefty) - It would be great to have something to display knit hats, plus photos would be better.

a wallet that's not too bulky, but can hold a lot of stuff in a cool pattern (think Alexander Henry, Heather Bailey, Anna Maria Horner - just nothing too juvenile for this particular project) - reminiscent to the Amy Butler wallet/checkbook clutch in In Stitches (my sewing skills are not up to that level).

If you live in Europe or Japan, I would love you forever if you could hook me up with some PEZ dispensers. Yours seem so much cooler than ours in the US, and Japan has the minis!

your art to hang in my office or my studio (or anywhere else it would look great) - you can see some styles I am drawn to in my wists, but I'm open to others too.

silk screened stationary and/or thank you cards

a block printing kit

a Amigurumi something cute Thanks SakanaSea, can't wait!

Bottle caps (I've been collecting them for about 1 year and a half, I want to make a giant picture out of them)

a knit or crocheted Market Bag to use while grocery shopping Thanks rockstr009!

This may be nerdy, but my sewing skills are crap so here it goes 18-inch-doll-size Hogwarts robes (I have three of these dolls, so if you happened to make me three you might get a package from me as a thank you instead of just a card. But I in no way expect you to do 3).

old issue of Martha Stewart Kids, Martha Stewart Babies, Everyday Food or heck, even just Martha Stewart Living! Or any other kind of home/crafty type of magazine you think I should check out even if I can't read the text because the language difference, I'm in it for the imagery anyways!

Japanese craft books

a couple jars of Barilla Pesto alla Calabrese - I'm not sure what it takes to send "food" overseas, but I fell in love with this sauce while I was studying in Italy with very little money to spend on food. I've contacted Barilla, but they said they only sell it in Europe.

Something inspired by my Wist (see the link in my signature) - some things are inspirations for projects I will do myself, but a lot is stuff I would just LOVE to have)

And of course, I would love a surprise!

As I said, I'll be 25. I'm married and a graphic designer. I love to read, cook and craft and wish I had more time to do those things, but a girl's gotta work, right? I'm also addicted to Harry Potter (like seriously, it's scary), PEZ dispensers, LOST, Grey's Anatomy, blogs and the computer in general, soft chocolate chip cookies, ice cream and Milky Way bars. I only have seasonal allergies, but smoke and strong perfumey smells irritate my nose. If I sound intriguing, or you just want to brighten my birthday (I just moved away from my family for my husband's job), check out the links in my signature to get to know me a bit more. And thanks in advance!

My name's Wendy & I live in Australia. I dyed my hair purple to celebrate my 47th birthday on May 4. I believe that age is a state of mind!

I'm a primarily a feltmaker and needle felter, but also enjoy making Rapunzel scarves.

Things I would love for my birthday:

- Ribbons (especially velvet), braids and/or ric rac for me to make into Rapunzel scarves. Each piece needs to be at least 10 feet (3 metres) long (any colour except neons). Thanks Shurlygirl

- Kool aid (especially tamarindo) but any colour is great

- Undyed wool yarn for dyeing with Kool Aid

- Thick hand spun yarn (any colour except neons)

- Japanese needle felting books/magazines

- Silk roving or hankies (for felting)

- Agate slices (I'm using them in a wall hanging)

- Sterling silver findings for pierced earrings (I'm allergic to nickel)

- angelina/firestar/nylon fibres

- It's getting cold here in Australia so I would love a pair of pure wool hand knitted socks in any of the berry shades.

- Large crocheted flowers made out of pure cotton or wool. Thanks piratetreasure

I'm trying to eat a more healthy diet so no candy please!

Thanks to anyone who chooses me, & happy birthday to all the May birthday babes!

- your favorite thing to make!

-A surprise!

About me: Im a soon to be 28 year old who has lives in Ontario, Canada. I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with the rest of my life but love to design things. I love learning new techniques and new things. Thats probably why I can't seem to focus on one area of crafting - I keep jumping from one thing to another as my imagination keeps turning.  I really like dark colours and earth tones (browns, greens, blacks) but also have a love for the colour orange and silver. I love stars, dragons, all the old 80's cartoons that I grew up with (scooby, smurfs, Jem, Rainbow brite!). I really have a love for medievel movies and anything inspired by it. Some of my favorite movies are Harry Potter, Lotr, labryinth, the GOONIES!.

I really am not hard to please. I'm sure I will love anything that anyone decides to make for me.  Thanks in advance to anyone who decides to craft for me. Hope you all have a great birthday!

Happy Birthday, May Babies!

Thanks for participating in this swap, it's going to be so fun!  I just turned the big 3-0 on May 1st.  I live in NYC, actually in Queens.  I am surrounded by tons of cultures and love exploring different cuisines (at least those that are veggie-friendly).  I work in the nonprofit sector and can't imagine doing anything else.  Craftwise, I love to crochet.  For my birthday my honey got me a sewing machine -- woohoo!  I'm also interested in exploring resin jewelry making and I dabble in polymer clay.  My favorite colors are black, pink & purple, though I'm getting ready to re-do my bedroom in zen/earth tones, mainly browns and deep oranges.

Happy Birthday May babes!!  I just turned 44 on May 2 and I'm from northern Alberta, Canada.

my wishlist:

* a needle-felting kit

* some of your favorite art supplies (paint, markers, glue whatever)

* funky fabric like Alexander Henry's tattoo or day of the dead

* sublime stitching patterns or kits

* small purse-size plastic dollar store kleenex holders that open up with a mirror inside, I'd love at least 5 but will take what I can get as I can't find these anywhere

* a crochet or knit grocery tote bag, any colour

* a purse any size/style, sewn, knit, felted, book/cigar box whatever you like - I LOVE handmade purses! Thanx steen!!!

* a fabric wallet in a fun print

* a charm-type or cha-cha bracelet, silver tones with any colour of beads

* foreign language small print book pages especially Spanish, Greek, Russian (I have lots of French and German pages)

* a calorimetry - I love these but the instructions are waaaay over my beginning knitter's head Thank-you Shuffar!!

* a hipslinger https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=31379.msg264494#msg264494

* some original art made by you

* I'm looking for photos of cool red doors from other places (from my travels I have Mexico, the Netherlands and Victoria Canada), something that shows the whole door in a normal print size.  Actually any nifty architectural type photos would be great!

* a jar/box/bag of whimsys - charms, little figures, random bits and  whatever that I can use in my collages and shrines Thank you PimpernelSmith!!

* a surprise!!! Thanks again to Shuffar, can't wait!!

About me, I'm a stay at home mom of 3 kids, married for a looooong time.  I'm a survivor of leukemia via stem cell transplant 4 years ago, so I LOVE to see my birthday every year Grin  I dabble in lots of crafts - knitting, pottery, sculpy, even a little sewing but my primary love is mixed media/altered art.  Lots of collages, ATC's and altered objects.  Right now I'm obsessed with shrines (and ravens, skeletons/skulls, Paris.......)  I like retro, funky coloured prints, bright colours, silver jewelry, my favourite colours are red, orange, green and brown.  When I'm not at my messy work table, I enjoy traveling the big wide world, indulging in my magazine obsession, and craftster of course!

Thanks to anyone who fulfills a wish for me and Happy Birthday to all the May babes!!

I love chocolate and have no allergies.

I'll be 27 on May 25th, and I live in lovely historic Fredericksburg, VA.

It took me a couple of days to post my list because I could not think of anything specific that I wanted -.-  For some reason whenever someone says "What do you want for your birthday?" I completely draw a blank.  So here is the list I finally cranked out.  I hope it is varied enough >.<

~Fleece for spinning, I am just starting with a drop spindle I am making myself.
~Handspun and/or hand dyed yarn
~Unique knitting needles
~decent paintbrushes
~batik supplies
~Henna powder
~Knit Kit for Socks
~I would love a felted bag of some sort Thanks, kmac!
~A Needle roll
~I looove handmade soap, especially in spicy/herby scents
~A corset (ha!) Or corset making supplies. (I need a new one for work.)
~Stitch Markers (mmmmm)Thanks, RedMenace!
~Anything Renaissance or Fantasy related.
~Pretty beaded jewelry
~A Surprise!

I may never know what to say, but I am nearly always happy with whatever surprise I get Cheesy

I am a big scifi/fantasy geek.  I game (tabletop and pc). I love history. In my spare time (I've heard of such a thing) I like to read, knit, crochet, sew, and paint.  I also do Mehndi (henna body art) and face/body painting. Far better with henna than with body painting though.  I am very much a Gemini, with fingers in every pot.  Jack of all trades, master of none.
My favorite colors are purple and black, But I love earthy, jewel and bright tones as well.

Hey Folks,
My name is Kathleen and I am going to be 49 this year.  I am very excited because that means just one more year until the big 50.  And I really like to celebrate those big birthdays in a big way.  I also like to celebrate the lessons learned, and experience gained by living almost a century.
Here is a list off the top of my head of things that I like.  But a great part of birthdays is being surprised so something not on the list you think I would like would be lovely.  (no food products please)

Knit socks size 9 to 11.  I could use socks in these colors: purple, green, red, pink, yellow, fall colors.  I am not a big fan of stripes but I love the ones a friend made out of variegated yarn. I also like socks with designs especially holiday designs, or day of the dead themed socks.

Jewelry: I am very theme oriented around holidays.  Have tons of Christmas and a lot of Halloween jewelry but would love day of the dead, Fourth of July, New Years, St. Patricks day, Thanksgiving.  I love fall themed jewelry especially fall leaves.
I like dangly earrings but also wear studs (nothing too heavy). For necklaces anything but chokers. Thanks so much for the earrings alwaysinmyroom - I love them

A shrug to go over summer dresses. Light colors, lavender, blue, green, cream

I would love you forever if you knit me this hedgehog. I have been in love with it for awhile but since I dont knit it has been unrequited love.

Goddess art or jewelry. I love goddess images as evidenced by my WISTS http://www.wists.com/kmac These are just some of the images I have found.  If you have other images you like to use thats even better. I am looking forward to your package when ever it arrives shurlygurl

Day of the dead themed material

A bag of bits and pieces of wool yarn left over from your knitting or crochet projects.  ( I will use them in my felt making) Oh yeah velvet rose - and a surprise too! I like surprises

A good description of how to nuno felt.  (I have the roving and a piece of cheese cloth to experiment with but I am not really clear on the process)

Decent paintbrushes

May is almost over, so if you want to choose more people to send presents, do it quickly. I'll close this swap tomorrow morning, which will be at night for North-Americans.

Did the birthday swap die out?  Or did no one decide to do June?  I'm not  a June birthday, but it just occurred to me which ongoing swap had dropped off the board.

Where did all this fabric come from? I CAN'T have bought THAT much!
