This is just exciting.  I hope that we entered some of our bags in the reusable contest.  Thanks for the advice, looking forward to links to better patterns.  I love the way the lily pattern looks, but they are just not great for carrying heavier things.  Perhaps a canvas lined bag is the only way to go.

Actually, I was thinking about making a tote out of regular twine, just to see if that holds up better than cotton or acrylic. I also got some J & P Coats Crochet Nylon for bags too. I'll give them both a try. Just have to pick a pattern to try them out  Cheesy

My mom wants me to make her a bag out of twine.  Let me know if it kills your hands!!!  Cause I told her I didn't think I could do it, I can barely handle acrylic, it itches and leaves a rash!

LOL - sorry, but that is too funny!  I thought that twine would be bad on the ole hands...

Here is the market bag I have been using...I cannot remember which pattern I used, but it seems to work pretty well.

I will see if I can find the link...

My Signature Recycled Bag

Here's my latest market shopping bag that is crocheted with plastic bags (plarn.) I used the big plastic Q hook for the first time to crochet this.  I found it doesn't take as many plastic bags when you use the big Q hook. The bag is still strong and I filled it up with quite a bit of groceries and it held up great. Also it is a seamless bag which helps it be strong to put lots of groceries in it.
If anyone would like the pattern here is the link to the free pattern. http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2007/09/15/large-plastic-market-bag/

 Shocked

Whoa! Thats freakin' AWESOME!!

Now I finally can do something with the seemingly endless collection of plastic bags from the store! Ack! That is flipping brilliant!!!
(If it helps at all I've been repurposing them as trash bags.)

NOW.. just need to figure out the best way to go about makin' me some PLARN.  Grin
