silk screening / screen printing is the process of making a stencil on a piece of screen material, and pushing ink through the stencil to print on whatever it is you want to print on.

screens used to be mainly silk, not so much any more.

you can use a photo-emulsion process to put the design on the screen, or you can paint on the screen with a screen-filler compound. you are filling in the areas on the screen where you do NOT want to print anything, and leaving open the areas of the screen where the design is to print.

ive been reading on silkscreening and how to do it and i never understood it until you described it in laymans terms for me.
 Embarrassed  i'm an idiot
thanks for the info! now it seems easier to do.

Life isn't complete 'til you crochet a uterus for a friend.  Just make sure your fallopian tubes point down and not up! No one needs to lose an eye this way! Wink
