is anyone interested in making a fairy house this summer/spring?

here is the site that inspired me:

http://www.fairywoodland.com/gallery.php

mine will be similar to a doll house but with natural found materials!  i will be collecting stones and wood but also other natural objects that would fit in (sea glass, shells, dried nuts, etc.).  i will be making and swapping/trading for small handmade items that could be rugs, curtains, etc.  i want things to be natural, but also colorful and intricate.  id love to bounce ideas off someone else!

LOVE this idea!
I want to make a fairy house to put out in my garden...and I want to make some tiny faux doors and windows to stick on the bases of some trees in my yard.

CUTE idea!  my house will be displayed indoors but i'd love to get a craftalong going with people who are making a variety of homes!

oh, wow!  great ideas.  i've been out in the garden all day, and our shrubbery definately needs something like this.  perhaps it could overwinter indoors tho.

i also think that it would be amazing to do in all natural/found materials (of course that's what the fairies would do! Wink.

mmm, yes.
I'd like to make a natural one, and a more sparkle one.  if that makes sense

The link devilninny posted has some great fairy houses.  I love the one that is made out of books...there are more pictures that show that the front door really opens.  I'd love that in my bookshelf!

oh man me and my little brother totally spent like a month one summer building a really elaborate "ewok village" in a tree behind our house that looked just like this.

i really recommend large leaves, monkey grass, and vines to use for making walls.  You can tie twigs together to make a sort of flat raft-like shape and use those as walls, or use leaves off of an umbrella tree if there is any landscaping near you that has them.

i think for a fairy house it would also be cute to have a few 'human' items used in funny ways, like buttons for a steppingstone path, or a striped pencil as a lightpole.

Oh yes that would be cute to see human items re-purposed to fairy uses.  Do you have any pictures of your Ewok village?  My son loves The Hobbit so I thought a little Hobbit hole would be fun to have out in the garden too.

Listening to the wind bustle past...and watching Muppet (the bearded dragon) sleep. This is lovely!

I am so very interested in doing this. I love fairies!
I'm not positive I'll have time, but I definitely want to see what other people are doing!
Such a good idea  Grin
