I know it's been done to death but I totally fell in love with the idea of having a Mad Hatter Tea Party for my 18th. My birthday was last week but i just HAD to have it on Friday the 13th, which proved lucky for me!

All my friends dressed up, and I was Alice (naturally).

I made my ENTIRE outfit (minus socks and shoes) and there was also a carpenter, a flamingo, a mock turtle and the king and queen of hearts and more!

We rented out the local school hall which had a sound system and created a 'hookas den' in one corner, a mini garden and a sitting area, with the table in the centre of the hall. We swung fairy lights and gauzy fabric up and hung paper lanters across the corner. The music was songs from the disney movie plus 30s jazz and some random songs ie the time warp and ELO.

We played kids party games like pass the parcel with silly forfeits which everyone did in good humour, a white rabbit hunt with riddles and chocolate bunny prizes and french cricket on the lawn (we couldnt get hold of croquet).

For afternoon tea, we sat down at a long white table with mismatched chairs and loads of tea cups full of sweets and teapots full of ice tea and lemonade. We had jam tarts, eat me cakes and finger food to eat. There was even a rabbit in one of the chairs and a mouse in a tea pot. Centre pieces were white roses half painted red ('painting the roses red!')

(the hookahs den is right at the back of this photo)

Then just for fun we all did the time warp!  Grin

Best party I've ever had! Every one said it was like being a kid again and it was so much fun!
