I still had a ton of this fabric left after making this cutout handle tote (scroll down to see it) from this dress:

So...
I made a tote

and a wristlet

And I still have enough left to make a matching change wallet, and at least one more bag! Maxi dresses are the best for recons!!

Question -
I've been calling these small bags with the bamboo handle wristlets, but I carry mine like a regular purse, with the strap on my arm in the elbow-region, or even pushed up as high as it will go like an arm band. Do you think I should call them purses or something other than wristlets?

Thanks!

The print is so cute! The colors are so bold.
Id love to see the dress on you to get more of an idea of the shape!!

And I think wristlet is an appropriate term. No worries there.

I should clarify - I didn't make the dress, I thrifted it and used it as the fabric to make these bags, plus the cutout handle tote I posted a few days ago. That dress looked so hideous on me  - luckily only scraps remain!

I just finished the little wallet too:

Still more fabric left over! I'll post what I come up with for the rest of it.

that's all awesome Cheesy

How much did the dress cost you? I'm just wondering what the difference in price is between US thrift stores and UK charity shops. In my town in the UK, that would cost about 4-5, thats like $8-10.. is that mad prices?

Well done again Cheesy

I probably paid under $3.00 for it, I don't recall exactly. I'm a super cheapo, so for over $5 it had better be a designer label and in mint condition. I see things priced as high as $8-$10 occaisionally, but I usually skip it because of the price. Also, our local chain of thrift shops has half off everything in the store on Mondays, so that's when I try to hit.

Last one! All that's left now are scraps, but of course I'll probably use those too!
