awwwhh. I <3 the hat, and the blanket. I think it is fine, it is still gorgeous, so what if it isn't perfect! I am sure your brother will love it all the same.  Grin

I loved this pattern, it was fun and it looks awesome when you finish.
I will say that I am not a beginner and find that when I am doing simple things like making a square my mind wanders and I wind up increasing too. I remedy this by counting every few rows just to check my self!

My beauty is not only on the surface. It goes down deep... layer after layer after layer. Yes, sir! My beauty is very thick.

I love the colors you chose. The hat looks great! I have loved this pattern since I got the book, I just don't have anyone to make it for. My teenage daughter is actually thinking of making the blanket a lot bigger to use as a throw on her bed.

You did a great job! I made the same mistake increasing stitches on a blanket. I wasn't counting the stitches either, just crocheting along and not looking. When I was done I held it up to look at and wow what a surprise! It goes along straight and all of a sudden widens out! Was I surprised!  Cheesy  But, I just left it as is, being lazy, and thinking it was one of my first efforts at crochet...Anyway, I like the colors you chose.

I love the color combo.  I think it looks even better with the dark grey than it would with black.

Your botch looked fine to me! Yes, it was triangular, but otherwise, it was great!

The FO is awesome.

Let me tell you mine Wink

Connor is 18 mo. Before he was born, I started crochet. I decided to make a small blankie to cover him in his infant seat. So, I got 2 skeins of Red heart, a learn how book, and some hooks. Started on the way home from town. Get about halfway through the first ball, and it was getting bigger, so I just skipped 1 stitch each row. Then it got smaller than when I started. So I started increasing....

It looks like an hourglass. I even tried to fix it by crocheting in the dips of the hourglass....no good. S'ok though, as Connor still carries it with him. So it really doesn't matter, does it?  Grin Took me 4 days to make it, too.
