It's nearing the end of summer in Australia and we're starting to feel a bit of a chill coming round and I'd been shopping around and knew I didn't like the shapeless smock type dresses hitting the stores so of course I turned to sewing!

So off I trotted to Lincraft and bought the BBW pattern ($16.75), 2 metres of woven/linen fabric ($19.98), 3 buttons ($1.38 each) and interfacing (80c) and set to work! Even though I know I should have been studying Maths or Psych or English (I've got one exam for each next week, I'm such a good procrastinator). :-P I decided to make the pattern longer to make it a dress  Grin

I finished it in about 4 hours all up (spread over two days). Had a hissy fit with my overlocker because I didn't realise I converted it to roll-hem and couldn't be bothered changing it back to overlocking, over-worked my eyes trying to unpick hems and pricked my self a few times trying to find the button holes. And even though I may have jeopardised my academic future by sewing while I should have been studying, it's all worth it because now I have a gorgeous dress for winter, thanks to our pal Wendy :-D

C'est moi - after I finished. I found the neckline a little bit too low! But I'll probably wear a shirt underneath or something  Wink

That is so good.  When I saw the pic of it on the hanger I thought it was a top.  I think it will be versatile, you could wear it with jeans, tights or whatever takes your fancy.

I have to get started on my new winter wardrobe, so far I have bought a daggy jumper from a nothing over $5 shop, wanted something to garden in.

I really like the fabric in the style you chose, great job!

Curious, is there a bit of elastic under the bust?  I have a patten similar to yours that calls for it.  Just wondering what you did.

That looks really comfy! I am soooooo excited for winter! It looks as though you could just throw it on while stumbling about in the morning when it is still dark!
